Doctoral Programme (PhD)

Nirma University started the Doctoral Programme in the year 2003. The University is renowned for the quality and diversity of its research. Ample opportunities are provided to faculty members and students to research, actively participate in international and national conferences/ events, to publish research work in highly acclaimed research studies. The Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University initiated it’s a PhD Programme in Architecture and Planning in July 2015. The Admission to this PhD programme is based on entrance exams and interviews. General intake of students is around 10-15. The course is offered as both part-time and full time in Areas such as Urban Ecology, Disaster Management and Developmental Planning, Urban Open spaces, Urban Forest etc.

To pursue a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree at Nirma University Ahmedabad, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. Applicants should possess a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognized university. Additionally, they should have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA in their postgraduate studies. However, for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories as per UGC guidelines, a relaxation of 5% is provided. Candidates must also clear the university's entrance examination and meet the required cutoff score. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for an interview or presentation, where their research aptitude and potential will be assessed. Successful candidates will be admitted to the Ph.D. program at Nirma University Ahmedabad.

Nirma University Course Admission 2024: Fees, Eligibility Criteria & Selection Process

Notification

Nirma University offers admission to regular degree programmes and online certificate courses through  ten institutes  or departments. The application form of Nirma University can be filled out online on the official website. The application fees of Nirma University vary depending on the course chosen. However, the university has a common enrollment fee of INR 1,000.  Nirma University offers admission in four categories, namely, All India, Gujarat State, NRI/ NRI (Sponsored), Children of Indian workers of Gulf Countries & South East Asia (CISWA-SEA), and PIO & Foreign Nationals (FN). 

• Nirma University B.Tech admission is granted based on JEE Main (All India Candidates) and GUJCET (Home State Candidates) scores.
• Nirma University offers MBA Admissions based on the CAT score followed by PI and Theme Development & Presentation Round.
• Nirma University offers admission to B.Des based on the scores in the UCEED or Design Entrance Test (NU-DET) conducted by the university itself.
• Candidates having a valid GATE score will be given preference during M.Tech admission. However, the university also conducts an All India Written Test for non-GATE applicants.
• For admission to MCA, a valid CMAT score is considered followed by ACPC counselling.
• ACPC Gujarat governs Nirma University Course Admission . 
• The university offers Ph.D. in both full-time and part-time modes for eligible candidates.
• Nirma University’s fee structure ranges from INR 1,43,000 to INR 3,90,000 per annum for various courses offered at UG and PG levels. 

Nirma University's eligibility criteria vary for different courses. For undergraduate programs, the applicant must have passed Class XII in a relevant subject with an aggregate percentage ranging from  45% to 60%.  For the PG courses, the minimum criteria is  60% marks  in Graduation in a relevant subject. Additionally, candidates who satisfy this condition must appear for the further selection process conducted by the university including an entrance exam, a personal interview, and counselling rounds.

Nirma University B.Tech Admission 2024

To apply for B.Tech at Nirma University, candidates must have passed 10+2 in Science with a minimum percentage of  45% marks . A total of  1020 seats  are available for B.Tech students at Nirma University. The tuition fee for B.Tech is  INR 2,29,600  per annum. 

Nirma University B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed the Class XII examination with at least 45% marks in aggregate in PCM.

Nirma University B.Tech Selection Criteria

Admission to B.Tech will be based on merit in JEE Main (All India Category) and GUJCET (State Quota Candidates) followed by ACPC counselling.

• Nirma University has reserved  52% of seats  for All India Quota candidates based on merit in JEE Main Paper I. The merit list will be prepared based on the All-India Rank (CRL) of Paper – I of the  JEE (Main)  Entrance Examination declared by NTA. 
• 33% of seats are filled through ACPC Gujarat.
• Eligible candidates must apply for online counselling as per the given schedule on the university’s official website. After conducting online allotment rounds, if required, offline (In-person) / telephonic counselling will be conducted.

The following options are available in the counselling rounds:

Option A:  I accept the branch allotted to me and I do not want any up-gradation in the branch allotted. I will pay the required fees within the time limit. I will also report online/offline as per the schedule. 

Option B:  I accept the branch allotted to me and I will pay the required fees within the time limit, however, I want to remain in the counselling process for branch up-gradation. 

Option C:  I am not interested in the allotted branch but I want to remain in the counselling process for branch up-gradation. 

Option D:  I am not interested in the branch made available to me as well as I do not want to remain in the counselling process for branch up-gradation. (As soon as the candidate selects this option, he/she will be out of the counselling process at the Institute of Technology, Nirma University). 

Candidates applying for state-quota seats must register separately on the official website of ACPC, Government of Gujarat.

Nirma University MBA Admission 2024

Nirma University offers MBA in general, Human Resource Management and Family Business & Entrepreneurship. The preliminary qualification for an MBA is that a candidate should have a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The fee for an MBA is  INR 6,04,800 per annum  for the general category. The first-year tuition fee for an MBA in Family Business & Entrepreneurship is  INR 4,83,800. 

Nirma University MBA Eligibility Criteria

To apply for an MBA at Nirma University Ahmedabad , candidates must have passed a three-year bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA.

Nirma University MBA Admission Criteria

Nirma University selects MBA applicants based on their scores in  CAT . Candidates shortlisted based on their performance in different components of the Common Admission Test will be called for Personal Interview and Theme Development & Presentation (TDP). The Interview and TDP will be conducted online.

Nirma University MBA Selection Criteria

While calculating the academic performance, 50% weightage is given to pre-final graduation, 30% to Class XII and 20% to Class X.

Nirma University MBA Application Fee 2024 

Applicants can pay the fee online via net banking/credit card/debit card. The MBA application fees for National and International students are as follows:

Nirma University MBA Seat Intake 

Seat Diversification:  300 seats are available for MBA (General), 30 seats are reserved for MBA (HRM) and 60 seats are available for MBA Family Business & Entrepreneurship. 

Over and above the intake of 300 and 30 seats for MBA & MBA (HRM) respectively, 15% (Supernumerary) seats are also allocated for admissions to PIO/ FN/ CIWGC-SEA*. Moreover, 33% of the seats are filled by ACPC.  

*PIO/ FN/ CIWGC-SEA/ SAARC stands for Persons of Indian Origin, Foreign Nationals and Children of Indian Workers of Gulf Countries/South East Asia and SAARC countries applicants. 

Nirma University M.Tech Admission 2024

Nirma University offers M.Tech (Regular and External) courses in various disciplines for the duration of two years. M.Tech admission is based on GATE while candidates who have not attempted for GATE examination are selected through the Nirma University Entrance Test. Nirma University M.Tech fee is INR 1,33,400 per semester.

Nirma University M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

The primary qualification required for M.Tech is a B.E./ B.Tech (50% marks) degree in a relevant discipline.

Nirma University M.Tech Selection Criteria 

Candidates having a valid GATE score will be given preference during admission. However, the university also conducts an All India Written Test for other applicants. The syllabus of the written exam will be the same as that of the GATE examination and there will be objective-type questions. The duration of the exam will be one hour.

In case, GATE candidates have equal scores/marks as the other applicants who have qualified for the Nirma University Entrance Test, the following criteria will be used for deciding merit order:

• Percentage of qualifying examination based on which class is awarded for degree.
• Percentage of eighth semester in qualifying examination (B.E. or B.Tech degree).
• If the result is awaited, the percentage of the seventh semester in the qualifying examination (B.E. or B.Tech degree).
• Date of Birth (candidate who is older shall be given priority).

Nirma University M.Tech Seat Intake

Nirma University BA LL.B. (Hons.)/ B.Com LL.B. (Hons.) Admission 2024

Nirma University offers integrated LLB courses at the undergraduate level. Students can apply through their CLAT scores or can appear for the Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) test to take admission to BA LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com LL.B. (Hons.). The minimum eligibility criteria is that the candidate must have passed Class XII with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The tuition fees for Nirma University BA LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com LL.B. (Hons.) is INR 3,25,000 per annum . 

Nirma University BA LL.B. (Hons.)/ B.Com LL.B. (Hons.) Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants must have passed the 10+2 examination with at least 45% marks in aggregate.

Nirma University BA LL.B. (Hons.)/ B.Com LL.B. (Hons.) Selection Criteria 

Candidates who have qualified for CLAT will be given preference for admission to BA LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com LL.B. (Hons.). Additionally, students who have not attempted CLAT or any other law examination must appear for the ILNU test. 

Nirma University BA LL.B. (Hons.)/ B.Com LL.B. (Hons.) Seat Intake 

The table below shows the seat diversification of integrated law courses at Nirma University Ahmedabad:

Nirma University B.Com (Hons.)/ B.Arch/ B.Pharma/ B.Des Admission 2024

Nirma University offers full-time B.Arch, B.Pharm, B.Des and B.Com (Hons.) courses at the undergraduate level. The basic eligibility criteria to apply for any of these courses is that the candidate must have passed Class XII exams in a relevant field from a recognized board. Admission to B.Com (Hons.) and B.Pharm is entirely merit-based. For B.Arch and B.Des admissions , candidates can submit their NATA and UCEED scores respectively.  

Nirma University B.Com (Hons.)/ B.Arch/ B.Pharma/ B.Des Eligibility Criteria 

• The eligibility criteria for B.Com (Hons.) at Nirma University Ahmedabad is that the student should have passed 10+2 with English as a subject along with any one of the following subjects: Accountancy, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics with at least 60% marks.
• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects or 10+3 diploma with Maths with at least 45% aggregate marks to apply for the B.Arch course.
• To apply for B.Pharm, the minimum eligibility is that the student must have passed 10+2 in Science with a minimum percentage of 45% marks.
• Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or 10+3 Diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education with at least 50% marks in aggregate to be eligible for the B.Des course. 

Nirma University B.Com (Hons.)/ B.Arch/ B.Pharma/ B.Des Selection Criteria 

• The merit list for B.Com (Hons.) students is based on marks obtained in Class XII. If two or more candidates have the same aggregate percentage score for the 12th examination, the marks obtained in the paper of English will be considered. The candidate with a higher score on the paper of English will be given priority.
• Nirma University B.Arch admission is based on the  NATA scores . The university has reserved  33% of seats for ACPC, 52% of seats for All India candidates and 15% seats for NRI/ Sponsored students  under B.Arch course. 
• For B.Pharm, Nirma University has an  85% reservation criteria for ACPC category students and 15% of seats are reserved for the NRI category . The merit list will be prepared based on academic performance and verification of documents. 
• Students will be admitted based on UCEED scores or the Design Entrance Test conducted by Nirma University. • Our campus is really beautiful and its like filled with greenery all around.Now they even have their their own lotus pond and it adds to the beauty of it.Then apart from this , we have like three canteens and a medical emergency center.
• Our campus has multiple libraries which facilitates for 6-7 institutes in the same campus and the good part is you can have access to all the books in all these libraries even if you dont belong to that institute.

My CLAT rank was under 2000 so it was a hassle free process for me to get into Nirma.My friends who had a rank around 4000-5000 were also able to get in but they had no option but to get BCOM LLB course. • One of the major positives of nirma university is it's infrastructure and environment. The university has 105 acres of land with a separate building for each institute, and loads of greenery spread throughout.
• The university also has good facilities for sports which includes a cricket field, football ground, basketball court etc.
• The new 15 floor building in which the BBA classes take place, have no air conditioning in the classes. The reason is that the building is still under construction.

• Great campus and facilities. The infrastructure and on-campus amenities are commendable.
• Diverse range of student clubs. There a host of cultural and technical clubs.
• The clubs are often too political to enjoy being a part of. This leads to certain toxicity within student groups.
• Although the alumni network is strong, it is difficult to connect and learn from your seniors directly.

The admission process for me was fairly simple, it was through the website with the eligibility of over 75% in 12th + JEE. That's cus Im in ITNU, if you are aiming for other institutes within the university, the entrance exam relevant to that course and/or your 12th grades are taken into account.

A good college if you can afford it

• I liked the fact that the mechanical engineering faculty is supportive
• The CAD CAM labs are open for anyone to use if they wish to, which as a mechanical engineer sounds very free.
• Some teachers are too old school and dense. They cannot tolerate a 1-2 min delay and would cause a 15-20 min delay spent in lecturing

Admission in Btech is provided in two ways . 35 % seats are takes based on Jee mains score and 50% on gujcet merit. other 15% seats are for NRI sponsored . Through Jee main : Cse around 95 percentile, ECE 93 percentile, Electrical and mechanical around 80 percentile other for chemical also 80 percentile or around it normally merit goes .Civil you can get near 70 percentile. but this are changing every year it may up or down as per results.

Nirma University (NU) situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat is a NAAC accredited ‘A’ grade private university. Overall, Nirma University offers 61 courses in 11 streams in various fields. Academic Regulation

Eligibility.

• The applicant for the Post- Doctoral Fellowship Programme shall possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from a recognised University, other than Nirma University.
• The applicant should have three publications in high quality Journals (listed in the Web of Science / SCOPUS / Hein Database / Indian Citation Index / ABDC / EBSCO – Art & Architecture Database or similar international agency).
• The upper age limit of the candidate is 40 years (at the time of the submission of application). Age relaxation of 5 (five) years is given to the women candidates.
• The candidates, who have completed their earlier post-doctoral fellowship assignment are also eligible.

Procedure of Admission

For admission to the Postdoctoral Fellowship Programmes, the University invites the applications through advertisement in newspapers, social media and the University website.

The candidates have to apply in a format prescribed by the University and also have to submit necessary copies of certificates, biodata, list of publications, detailed Research Proposal, etc.

The Research Proposal should include the Research Project Title, Research Objectives, Project Summary, Expected Outcomes of the proposed Research, Requirement of Infrastructure/Equipment/Software, Timeline of the Research, etc.

The candidate would make a presentation of Research Proposal before the Selection Committee. Followed by the presentation, there will be personal interview of the candidate.

The Selection Committee makes its recommendations on the basis of the biodata, publications of the candidates, presentation by the candidate, novelty of the research proposal and personal interview.

Duration of the Programme

The fellowship is purely a temporary assignment. In the first instance, it will be tenable for the period of one year.

The tenure can be extended based on the progress of the candidate and the recommendations by the Research Progress Committee. The maximum duration of the programme should not exceed three years.

Fellowship and Grants

• A Postdoctoral Fellow is entitled for monthly fellowship at par with the salary of an Assistant Professor of Nirma University at the time of appointment.
• The Fellow will be eligible for an annual contingency grant of Rs 1,00,000/-.
• The contingency grant can be used for the purchase of books /journals/stationary/minor equipment/consumables/chemicals, registration of national or international conference, domestic travel, etc.
• The books, journals and equipment purchased out of the contingency grant will become the property of the University.

Nirma University started the Doctoral Programme in the year 2003. The University is renowned for the quality and diversity of its research. Ample opportunities are provided to faculty members and students to research, actively participate in international and national conferences/ events, to publish research work in highly acclaimed research studies. The Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University initiated it’s a PhD Programme in Architecture and Planning in July . The Admission to this PhD programme is based on entrance exams and interviews. General intake of students is around 10-15. The course is offered as both part-time and full time in Areas such as Urban Ecology, Disaster Management and Developmental Planning, Urban Open spaces, Urban Forest etc.

Ph.D Program is conducted by Nirma University, Ahmedabad.

Eligibility Criteria:

Interested candidates should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

• Candidates for the admission to the PhD programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by the Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognised or authorised by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
• Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to MPhil Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognised or authorised by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to PhD programme.

Application Procedure:

Candidates, who intend to take admission for PhD have to apply in a prescribed proforma. On the receipt of applications, an Entrance Test will be conducted for the eligible candidates irrespective of number of applications received, which will be followed by an interview by the Departmental Research Committee.

The selection criterion for the admission in PhD programmes are as under:

• The Entrance Test shall be conducted for eligible candidates wherein the qualifying marks will be 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. (The detailed syllabus is available on the website)
• The list of candidates clearing the entrance test (50%) shall be declared on the notice board/ website of the University.
• An interview/viva-voce to be organised by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before Department Research Committee specified under R.Ph.D. 2.3.
• The candidates who qualify the UGC-NET (Including JRF) UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF) SLET / GATE / GPAT with a valid score in terms of cut-off marks and duration, teacher fellowship holder or who have passed MPhil programme shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test and deemed to be qualified for personal interview.

Candidates are selected based on the following criteria :

The interview/viva-voce shall also consider the following aspects, viz. whether:

• the candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research;
• the research work can be suitably undertaken at the Institution;
• the proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.
• An interview/viva-voce to be organised by the University when the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before Department Research Committee specified under R.Ph.D 3.3.
• The final selection will be based on following criteria:Weightage of 70% to the entrance test and weightage of 30% to the performance in the interview/ viva-voce.
