Bro Movie Review: A Good-Hearted Story Over-Powered By Fan Service

Writer-director Trivikram has always been fascinated with the concept of divinity. We can find overarching themes like God and humanity, in some capacity, spread throughout his filmography. Even in the mass-y, crowd-pleasing  Bheemla Nayak (2022), the official adaptation of  Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020), he brought a sacred quality to his rebel, non-conformist protagonist, also played by Pawan Kalyan. The inclusion of a myth centred on 'Kokkili Devera' was, without a doubt, the best part of  Bheemla Nayak . 

Naturally, for Trivikram , who penned the adapted screenplay of  Bro , the remake of Samuthirakani 's fantasy drama  Vinodhaya Sitham (2021) ,  this story is the stuff of his dreams, with themes like morality and mortality served on a dazzling, mouth-watering platter. And the film's director Samuthirakani himself is vocal about the moral responsibility and social consciousness in his films. When these two forces come together, coupled with the power of a king-size star like Pawan Kalyan, we only expect the star power to give a thunderous boost to the film, not pull it back and settle for basic highs. This is where  Bro  falters. The makers had the opportunity and resources to create a missile but miss the mark by a mile and settle for flower pots and sparkles.

Sai Dharam Tej 's Markhadeyulu aka Mark is a busy and ambitious man. He is always running from pillar to post and barely has time for his family--a mother and two sisters. His agitation is such, that he fires an employee for forgetting to book a return ticket for his work trip from Vizag to Hyderabad. On his way back, Mark meets with a fatal accident. As his soul departs earth and waits for a transfer from our world to the afterlife, which is represented here with darkness all around, he and we are introduced to Time, played by Pawan Kalyan. Pawan first appears as a railway porter, a call-back to the iconic 'Vayyari Bhama' (which is played in the background), from  Thammudu (1999). When a distraught Mark pleads Time for... more time, so he can fulfill some of his responsibilities, he is granted an extension of 90 days to live. And Time, of course, accompanies him like, as put by a character, Bethaal.

It's a wonderful story that talks about the futility of our apprehensions about the future in the most practical way possible. We have seen many films that speak about the value of life, but  Bro  (or  Vinodhaya Sitham ) is that rare movie that underlines the bitter reality: our presence or life doesn't make much of a difference. Yes, it can be a hard pill to swallow but it's a perspective that's never explored or even addressed in our films. We, the Indian society, bound by familial values, only talk about loss and longing in our films, but never about moving on, a point that everyone arrives at invariably. This perspective, coupled with fantasy, is what lends novelty to the film. This is why the film soars in its final moments, when Mark faces the hard-hitting reality and accepts his fate. Kasarla Shyam's beautiful lyrics of 'Okasaari Putti' leave a lasting impact, even if they are elaborating and reiterating the essence of Pawan Kalyan's lines. The film does get the ending right, without a doubt. But to arrive at this heartfelt culmination, we have to endure numerous uninventive and forced attempts to create a high in an otherwise heartening story. 

Every time the film remembers it has to appeal to the humongous fanbase of Pawan Kalyan, it resorts to a reference to a song from his filmography. And considering there is no paucity of moments to celebrate in his career, we get generous doses of fan service that runs the course of its time pretty soon, once the modus operandi of the film becomes apparent. This is my biggest problem with the film. Sure, there's nothing wrong with tipping hats to older films and including references to elicit a response from the audience but can that just be the only weapon in a writer's arsenal? I believe we, as movie lovers and fans, should be tripping on our favourite stars and the nostalgia associated with them. So when filmmakers make the stars themselves do it, we cannot help but wonder if they didn't have any better ideas to entertain us. Sure, the audience responded incredibly well to every popular reference in my theatre but it feels like the easiest way to achieve a mass moment. The interval shot, for instance, is a killer, and Thaman, as always, goes ballistic. I just wish there were more such moments, originating from the film's story and not the star's image.

The most disappointing moment in the film is the recreation of the 'La la Bheemla' from  Bheemla Nayak , which was released just a year ago. And neither did the makers have a fresh take on it or repurposed the song; they essentially recreated a bit from the song. Now, I wouldn't say the same about other songs used in the film because I understand the nostalgia value surrounding 'Killi Killi' from  Gudumba Shankar  (2004)   or 'Emi Sodhara' from  Tholi Prema  (1998) but  Bheemla Nayak  was just 17 months ago and I bet it's still fresh in our memory. It simply was an indication that the makers clearly ran out of ideas!

It was fun to see a nonchalant and cool Pawan Kalyan play around and have fun, especially after playing serious roles in  Vakeel Saab (2021) and  Bheemla Nayak , but every time the film fell back on a reference, I kept thinking that a star of his stature deserved better masala writing. And by now, the lines between Pawan's off-screen and on-screen personalities are blurred, giving the film ample opportunities to pen dialogues that smartly allude to his political career and  Bro  is no different— from his political party's symbol to his efforts, the writing accommodates all of it.

Trivikram's writing too is underwhelming, considering you'd expect the wizard of words to spin magic on a subject with such gravitas. Sure, there are some great lines about life and death but the thought behind it is more admirable than the dialogue itself. While that was my qualm with the film's writing and its tonality, the film's visual quality is far from perfect. Excessive usage of greenscreen is a major distraction and the keying is utterly visible, especially in the after-life sequences. Is visual finesse too much to ask for from a major production in 2023? 

Despite all its flaws,  Bro  manages to harbour its noble intentions at the end and the final few moments are genuinely moving, when we see Mark embrace his flaws and the meaning of existence. The peril here is that  Vinodaya Sitham  never aspired for a larger-than-life quality. And Bro, on the other hand, cannot afford simplicity. The fact that the adaptation has to strike a balance between the 'nobility' of the source material and the 'bigness' expected from a big-ticket Pawak Kalyan entertainer yields mixed results. I wish the making complemented the vision and writing invigorated the intentions.

BRO (2023) Movie: What's Behind

BRO directed by Samuthirakhani generated immense interest among movie lovers as it stars Power Star Pawan Kalyan in the role of Time God. With Pawan Kalyan lining up the project to propel his nephew Sai Dharam Tej who met with an accident last year, people got emotionally connected. Trivikram known for his witty dialogues provided screenplay for the film. The film hit the screens today and let us find out whether BRO offered a blast at the box office. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by Netflix for a fancy sum.

BRO Movie: Story Review

BRO story is all about a youngster who always runs after materialistic pleasures ahead of relations and how he deals with it when he faces the hard reality. Young Mark aka Markandeyulu (Sai Dharam Tej), works so hard as the manager in a company in Hyderabad so much so that he doesn't have time to spend with his family comprising of his mother (Rohini), sister Veena (Priya Prakash Varrier) and another sister and brother and also his lover Ramya (Ketika Sharma).

However, he gets a shock of his life while he was returning from Vizag to Hyderabad to celebrate his B-Day which brings him face to face with Time God (Pawan Kalyan). Where this leads, what are the consequences from the rest of the proceedings?

BRO Movie: Artists Review

Pawan Kalyan as the Time God turned out to be the centre of attraction. He with his powerful screen presence carried the film on his shoulders. His entertaining mannerisms and hilarious scenes along with serious powerful dialogues loaded with intense messages to society turned out to be the pillar of the story. Pawan with his electrifying performance added energy to the film's proceedings.

Sai Dharam Tej looked good as a youngster who turns out to be a workaholic due to circumstances so much so that he doesn't spend time with his family and becomes a kind of dictator. But his get-up as the elderly person looked good and gave scope for the memes fest. Sai Dharam Tej is yet to recover completely from the deadly accident he met last year. He looked out of shape physically and psychologically. He even failed to come up with normal dance moves also.  It seems that he did the film only to be in the reckoning and now he has taken a good decision to take a break to regain his normal self.

Ketika Sharma is ok in the role of Sai Dharam Tejk's lover. She got limited screen presence. Priya Prakash Varrier also got confined to a few scenes. Others like Vennela Kishore, Brahmanandam, and Tanikella Bharani got blink-and-miss roles. Samuthirakhani played an important role and he is fine but his makeup looked odd.

BRO Movie: Technicians Review

The story of BRO readied by Samuthirakani is about a youngster who seeks time from God to set everything for his family in a stipulated time frame. The film is the remake of Vinodhaya Sitham. Trivikram Srinivas provided the screenplay and dialogues for the film. Trivikram Srinivas concentrated only on elevating the heroism of Pawan Kalyan by highlighting his mannerisms, style, and swag and making him dance to his chartbuster songs from his previous films.

In the process, emotions took a back seat. However, the first half offers a full feast to the fans with a lot of entertainment. The first half ends with an emotional interval scene setting the tone for the second half. The entire second half depended on taking the scenes to another level with powerful emotions. But with entertainment taking the backseat and emotions failing to get elevated, the second half slides down in no time, with routine elements. For some reason, one gets a feeling that Trivikram's mark went missing and it seems that he lost interest in coming with powerful and intense emotions.

Trivikram's screenplay failed on the emotional front while it is high on the entertainment. Samuthirakhani's story is extremely emotional and he tried his best to do justice with his direction. But the change in the script and turning the protagonist to a youngster instead of a 40-50 year old person in the original, backfired completely. Thambiramaiah came out with powerful emotions to connect chords with the movie lovers and Sai DharamTej for all his effort, failed to do so. The complete change of God of Time to an entertaining one to elevate Pawan's heroism may attract his fans but Pawan just dancing to his chartbuster songs and imitating his own mannerisms, puts off movie lovers as they diluted the emotions.

Thaman failed to entertain with his music. None of the songs are entertaining and appealing. It seems he just passed through the motions. His background music is ok but at times it is loud. The cinematography of Sujith Vassudevan beautified the film and is colorful on the screen. He captured the visuals in a good manner. Naveen Nooli's editing is just ok. While the first half is passable, the second half is full of repetitive scenes that impacted the pace of the film. The production values of People Media Factory are good.

Altogether, BRO is just an average entertainer even for Pawan Kalyan's fans. For all the hype with Trivikram Srinivas providing script, screenplay, and dialogues to Samuthirakhani's story, BRO diluted the essence and emotions of the original Vinodhaya Sitham. It comes as a shocker that Trivikram came up with such substandard dialogues and screenplay, only making Pawan Kalyan dance to his previous chartbuster songs. Taking movie lovers and even fans for granted will boomerang and backfire sooner than later. One shouldn't be under the misconception that people throng theatres to watch Pawan Kalyan perform his chartbuster songs again by paying huge bucks. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for BRO.

Bro review: This rehashed ‘Vinodhaya Sitham’ fails to quit beating around the bush

If you analyse 'Bro' as it happens, it probably wouldn't have worked for any other film personality other than Pawan Kalyan.

“Never commit a mistake today for a better tomorrow!” This dialogue of Pawan Kalyan, uttered to Sai Dharam Tej, may seem as though he is sending out a message to his political rivals.

But it also innately reflects Pawan Kalyan’s vision which may be ideal but impractical.

Before you debate whether this dialogue is political or apolitical, the story of Bro can be summed up in this one phrase.

Markandeya (Sai Dharam Tej) is a corporate professional who believes in being loyal to the company. He thinks that if he remains with the company and believes in the company’s growth for a long period, he will feel valued and appreciated.

While enjoying the perks in the corporate sector, he takes good care of his mum (Rohini), his two sisters (Priya Prakash Varrier and Yuva Lakshmi), and his young brother (played by Surya Srinivas).

If there is one that he cannot lend… it is time. He gets killed when his car topples on a ring road.

What if he is sent to Earth again for 90 days? How shocking would it be for Mark (Markandeya) when he witnesses his life, which till then seemed so comfortable to him. That is the story of Bro , in a nutshell.

The off-screen image of Pawan Kalyan sometimes doesn’t make you gauge his onscreen performance properly.

But if you analyse Bro as it happens, the movie probably wouldn’t have worked for any other film personality other than him.

Also, you may not find enough credence to say that Kalyan outperformed everyone.

You would get to see the same mannerisms that he has been doing since the days of Tholi Prema (1998) and Thammudu (1999).

And probably, his role in Bro as an eternal being “Time” has slightly more depth than Gopala Gopala (2015).

His character tries to explain to Mark how the primaeval “time” existed from the beginning and has no end. And if one knows about the magic of time in the material world, he would probably become an enlightened being.

This metaphysical philosophy may seem too heavy for the common man. It could have been properly conveyed when it is shown on screen.

Weight of pawan kalyan’s image.

The first half of Bro involves beating around the bush, as far as Pawan Kalyan’s character is concerned.

“ Emi Sodhara Manasuku Emaindiraa ..” from Tholi Prema is played to console the devastated Mark.

And then, he dances to the tunes of “ Sarigama Padanisa karo karo jara jalsa ..” from Jalsa (2022), during the party time to pump up Mark’s spirits.

Director Samuthirakani probably succumbed to the demands of showing Pawan Kalyan as a larger-than-life character.

All unimportant things come randomly because the story doesn’t want to talk about the process of the plot.

And you probably would be the most unfortunate if you were unknowingly seated behind a bunch of Jana Sena supporters or Pawan Kalyan fans — except for whistles nothing goes to your brain.

Samuthirakani would have done a far more better job if Trivikram had not been the dialogue writer.

When Mark’s mother Rohini is rushed to the hospital, Sanjay Swarup, who played a doctor’s role tells Mark, “ Parkinson’s disease dabbulu unna vallake vastundhi ” (Parkinson’s disease only affects rich people).

This is when Mark is not left with a single penny because he just has resigned from his job. It looks ridiculous to hear a dialogue written by someone like Trivikram.

Performances.

Sai Dharam Tej as a corporate professional looks visually good. But he somehow couldn’t get into the skin of the character.

Pawan Kalyan has not much meat apart from uttering a few philosophically-logical dialogues.

Ketika Sharma remains herself to be Mark’s honest love interest.

Priya Prakash and Rohini as the former’s mother and sister, respectively, have done well within their space.

S Thaman has seriously nothing much to show of his creative side because Kalyan’s old chartbusters keep coming randomly when he has a task to massage Mark’s ego or to change his mood.

Sujith Vaassudev’s cinematography is okay but not commendable.

Bro is simply a rehashed remake of Vinodhaya Sitham (2021), cautiously made while adjusting commercial meters, to titillate the taste buds of Pawan Kalyan’s fans.

Focusing on “now” — the present moment — the film would have scored a hit had the director added more depth.

Along with the message, there is political banter, too.

Well, Kalyan censures his rivals severely through Bro as he says, “ Ippudu right ga untey eppudu goppaga untav ” (If you follow the righteousness, you’ll always be blessed)!

Bro Movie Review: A Concoction Confused Between Serving Pawan Kalyan’s Stardom & Telling A Story

More than a film about a potent subject, bro is now a fan service.

What’s Good: Pawan Kalyan’s swagger that translates so well on screen and how it compliments his character, is fun to watch.

What’s Bad: it is mostly a rehash and not something that you haven’t seen already.

Loo Break: there are numerous half-baked lazy songs; that’s your cue.

Watch or Not?: If you are a Pawan Kalyan fan, nothing can stop you. It’s a fan service and not even one that is shaped nicely.

Bro Movie Review: Script Analysis

How much control do we have over our life? Is a question that cinema has been exploring for a while. The concept where a man stands on the boundary between the real world and the afterlife is something that has been fascinating people for at least a couple of decades now. India mostly has seen it in more commercial movies like God Tussi Great Ho and Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, The former was a remake of the Hollywood movie Bruce Almighty. Years later when Samuthirakani brought back the plot in his Tamil movie Vinodhaya Sitham, the reception was, as expected mixed.

Now with Bro, he remakes his Tamil story into Telugu and brings in a top star to drive his point home. With Trivikram Srinivas writing the Telugu version, they end up diluting their subject even more because now the responsibility to do a fan service arose the moment they cast Pawan Kalyan . The core of Bro is in the question about existence how one’s presence affects the world around him. It is a substantial question and one that can be explored pretty well. But the writer and the filmmaker here choose to rather focus on the casting coupe they have managed to pull off.

So now, more than a film about a potent subject, Bro is now a fan service that is filled with innumerable ‘King-like’ walking and sitting shots of Pawan Kalyan, and infinite references to his songs, movies, his political ideologies, and much more. This affects the movie in a massive way because he was introduced as the God Of Time with so much panache, but you have now associated him with Kalyan’s real self and the line has blurred. Post the first three references; he is now Pawan Kalyan and not the character you want me to see.

Add to this the urge to break into random weirdly composed and picturised songs every 10 minutes. Pawan Kalyan snapping is used as a device that controls the world, because he is Time, remember? But barring the 6-7 genuine snaps, he starts snapping randomly to break into dance numbers and one even brings in Urvashi Rautela , we deserved Thanos; he wasn’t wrong! The decoration that the makers lace Bro with kills its very essence and doesn’t let its subject breathe at all.

The last few scenes by the climax, where you meet the man in his most vulnerable moments, are good, but it is too late by then.

Bro Movie Review: Star Performance

Sai Dharam Tej is comfortable when it comes to being comical and kicking some goons, but the moment he has be emotional is when his ship begins to sink. He is a man-child who can sulk at anything and is also a control freak. Too rich for an AGM of a company. The character is written in broad strokes and with no realism to him.

Pawan Kalyan walks in with his swagger and owns it. But as said, he never becomes the character but remains his real self throughout. Priya Varrier gets nothing more than being a sister in love with a boy without her elder brother knowing and an emotional scene that concludes things.

Rest everyone is a one-tone part with not much as redemption.

Bro Movie Review: Direction, Music

Samuthirakani’s direction is haywire and completely all over the place. One can see his struggle to tell a story and also cater to the fans of Pawan Kalyan. This ends up creating a weird mix that doesn’t do either. His idea of introducing an entire platter of songs that have no connection to the movie and its story is the most bothering part of it all.

The music is exactly the kinds we want to skip except two numbers, and you already know which ones.

Bro Movie Review: The Last Word

Bro tries to tell a story and be at service to Pawan Kalyan’s fandom but does neither by the time it ends.

పవన్ కళ్యాణ్, సాయి ధరమ్ తేజ్ కలయికలో సముద్రఖని దర్శకత్వంలో వచ్చిన ఈ బ్రో సినిమా రాక కోసం పవర్ స్టార్ అభిమానులతో పాటు తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు కూడా ఎంతో ఆసక్తిగా ఎదురుచూశారు. ఆ ఆసక్తిని రెట్టింపు చేస్తూ ఈ చిత్రం ఈ రోజు అత్యధిక థియేటర్లలో విడుదల అయింది. మరి ఈ చిత్రం, ఆడియన్స్‌ ను ఏ మేరకు మెప్పించిందో సమీక్షలోకి వెళ్లి తెలుసుకుందాం.

మార్కండేయ(సాయి ధరమ్ తేజ్) వర్క్ కి తప్ప మిగిలిన వ్యక్తులకు టైం లేదంటూ ఎప్పుడూ బిజీగా ఉంటాడు. లైఫ్ లో ఎదగడానికి చాలా కష్ట పడతాడు. తన కంపెనీలో మంచి పొజిషన్ కి వెళ్తాడనుకునే సమయంలో మార్కండేయ ఒక యాక్సిడెంట్ లో చనిపోతాడు. అప్పుడే టైమ్ గాడ్ (పవన్ కళ్యాణ్) మార్కండేయ లైఫ్ లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇస్తాడు. ఆ తర్వాత జరిగిన కొన్ని నాటకీయ పరిణామాల నేపథ్యంలో మార్కండేయ తిరిగి బతికాడా ?, లేదా ?, బతికితే టైమ్ గాడ్ (పవన్ కళ్యాణ్) అతనికి ఎన్ని డేస్ టైమ్ ఇచ్చాడు?, ఈ మధ్యలో మార్కండేయ లైఫ్ లో జరిగిన సంఘటనలు ఏమిటి?, చివరకు మార్కండేయ అర్థం చేసుకున్న అంశం ఏమిటి?, అలాగే అతని జీవితం చివరికి ఎలా ముగిసింది? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

పవర్ స్టార్ ఫ్యాన్స్ కు ఏం కావాలో అవన్నీ ఒక సినిమాలో పెట్టి తీసిన సినిమా ఇది. పవన్ ఫ్యాన్స్ కి ఈ సినిమా ఫుల్ కిక్ ఇస్తోంది. పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ తన స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ తో పాటు తన మార్క్ టైమింగ్‌ తో కూడా ఈ సినిమాకి హైలెట్ గా నిలిచారు. తన పాత్రలో డిఫరెంట్ వేరియేషన్స్ చూపిస్తూ ఎప్పటిలాగే పవన్ తన మ్యాజరిమ్ తాలూకు పెర్పార్మెన్స్ తో ప్రేక్షకులను మెస్మరైజ్ చేశారు. ప్రధానంగా సినిమాలో పవన్ ఎంట్రీ సీన్స్, ఇంటర్వెల్ సీక్వెన్స్, అలాగే క్లైమాక్స్ మరియు ముఖ్యంగా పవన్ డైలాగ్స్ చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

ఈ సినిమాలో మరో హీరోగా నటించిన సాయి ధరమ్ తేజ్ కూడా నటన పరంగా ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. కొన్ని ఏమోషనల్ సీన్స్ లోనూ తేజ్ చాలా బాగా నటించాడు. హీరోయిన్ కేతిక శర్మ కూడా తన గ్లామరస్ పెర్ఫార్మెన్స్‌తో బాగానే నటించింది. అలాగే తల్లి పాత్రలో సీనియర్ నటి రోహిణి నటించిన విధానం ముఖ్యంగా ఎమోషనల్ సీన్స్ లో ఆమె నటన చాలా బాగుంది. మరో పాత్రలో నటించిన ప్రియా ప్రకాష్ వారియర్ కూడా తన పాత్రకు తగ్గట్లు చాలా బాగా చేసింది.

కామెడీ కింగ్ బ్రహ్మానందం తన కామిక్ హావభావాలతో నవ్విస్తూనే.. పవన్ గురించి చెప్పిన పవర్ ఫుల్ డైలాగ్స్ బాగున్నాయి. సుబ్బరాజు, ఊర్వశి రౌతేలా తమ పాత్రల పరిధి మేరకు బాగానే నటించారు. అదేవిధంగా మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా అయా పాత్రల్లో తమ నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. ఇక కామెడీని హ్యాండిల్ చేయడంలో తనకంటూ ఒక ప్రత్యేకమైన గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకున్న త్రివిక్రమ్ తనదైన ప్లేతో, తన మార్క్ డైలాగ్ లతో కొన్ని చోట్ల ఆకట్టుకున్నారు.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

రచయితగా త్రివిక్రమ్ – దర్శకుడిగా సముద్రఖని గుడ్ పాయింట్ తో పాటు డీసెంట్ ఎమోషన్స్ మరియు కొన్ని ఫన్ మూమెంట్స్ తో ఆకట్టుకున్నప్పటికీ.. అలాగే కొన్ని ఎమోషనల్ సన్నివేశాల్లో మంచి పనితీరుని కనబర్చినప్పటికీ.. కథనం విషయంలో మాత్రం పెద్దగా ఆకట్టుకోలేకపోయారు. త్రివిక్రమ్ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే అండ్ డైలాగ్స్ రాస్తున్నాడు కాబట్టి, ఫుల్ కామెడీ ఉంటుందనుకుని వెళ్లిన ప్రేక్షకులు నిరాశ పడతారు. త్రివిక్రమ్ తన రచన విషయంలో కూడా ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో రాణించలేదు.

దీనికితోడు పవన్ ఫ్యాన్స్ ను మాత్రమే దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకునే డిజైన్ చేసిన సీన్స్ అండ్ సాంగ్స్ కూడా సాధారణ ప్రేక్షకులకు పెద్దగా కనెక్ట్ కావు. అలాగే పవన్ చెప్పే డైలాగ్స్ కూడా మాస్ ఆడియన్స్ కి పెద్దగా ఎక్కవు. కానీ, పవన్ ఫ్యాన్స్ కి మాత్రం ఫుల్ కిక్ ఇస్తాయి. మొత్తమ్మీద స్క్రీన్ ప్లే ఇంట్రెస్ట్ గా సాగకపోవడం, కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు సినిమాటిక్ గా సాగడం, దీనికి తోడు సెకెండ్ హాఫ్ లో కొన్ని సీక్వెన్సెస్ కూడా సరిగ్గా వర్కౌట్ అవ్వకపోవడం వంటి అంశాలు సినిమా రేంజ్ ని తగ్గిస్తాయి.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

సాంకేతిక విభాగం విషయానికి వస్తే.. సముద్రఖని దర్శకుడిగా ఆకట్టుకున్నా.. పూర్తిస్థాయిలో మెప్పించలేకపోయారు. త్రివిక్రమ్ కూడా తన కథనాన్ని ఇంకా ఆసక్తికరంగా మలిచి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. సంగీత దర్శకుడు థమన్ ఎస్ సమకూర్చిన పాటలు ఆడియో పరంగా కంటే కూడా.. సినిమాలో విజువల్ గా పరంగా బాగున్నాయి. వాటి పిక్చరైజేషన్ కూడా బాగుంది. థమన్ నేపధ్య సంగీతం కూడా బాగుంది. అలాగే సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ వర్క్ కూడా బాగుంది. సినిమాలోని సన్నివేశాలన్నీ కథకి అనుగుణంగా చాలా అందంగా చిత్రీకరించారు. ఇక నవీన్ నూలి ఎడిటింగ్ బాగున్నప్పటికీ.. సెకండ్ హాఫ్ కథనాన్ని ఇంకా సాధ్యమైనంత వరకు ట్రీమ్ చేసి ఉంటే.. సినిమాకి ప్లస్ అయ్యేది. నిర్మాతలు టి.జి.విశ్వ ప్రసాద్, వివేక్ కూచిబొట్ల ఎక్కడా కాంప్రమైజ్ కాకుండా ఈ చిత్రాన్ని నిర్మించారు. వారి నిర్మాణ విలువులు చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

పైన చెప్పుకున్నట్లుగానే పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ ఫ్యాన్స్ కి ఈ బ్రో సినిమా ఫుల్ కిక్ ఇస్తోంది. సినిమాలో గుడ్ మేసేజ్ తో పాటు డీసెంట్ ఎమోషన్స్ అండ్ కొన్ని చోట్ల ఫన్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి. అయితే, కొన్ని చోట్ల స్క్రీన్ ప్లే ఇంట్రెస్ట్ గా సాగకపోవడం, సెకెండ్ హాఫ్ లో కొన్ని సీక్వెన్స్ కూడా సరిగ్గా వర్కౌట్ అవ్వకపోవడం వంటి అంశాలు సినిమాకి మైనస్ అయ్యాయి. కానీ, పవర్ స్టార్ తన నటనతో, తన డైలాగ్ మాడ్యులేషన్ తో, మ్యానరిజమ్స్ తో ఈ సినిమాని మరో లెవల్ కి తీసుకు వెళ్లారు. ఓవరాల్ గా ఈ బ్రో చిత్రం పవన్ ఫాన్స్ ను మాత్రం చాలా బాగా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. అయితే, మిగిలిన వర్గాల ప్రేక్షకులని ఎంత వరకు అలరిస్తుందో చూడాలి.

Mark, aka Markandaya (Sai Dharam Tej), has too many responsibilities on his shoulders. He has to take care of his family, comprising of brother, sister and mother. Amidst all this, he forgets to live his life and always chases for a bigger position. 

One day, unfortunately, Mark meets with an accident. The movie’s basic plot is what happens when God (Pawan Kalyan) gives him time to set things right.

Performances

Pawan Kalyan has a fully jolly role playing God. It is in the same zone as Gopala Gopala, but more energetic, filled with fan moments here. The energy and swag can’t be missed from his intro to the end. The styling is also the best post his comeback. It lifts the film’s mood but gets restricted to the first half only. There was nothing much to chew for him in the second hour, even though there was scope. He can only elevate things to a level, given the content.

Sai Dharam Tej has the role of actual meat. He has to do the heavy lifting as far as emotion and action are concerned. He is okay on his part. The physicality is an issue, but he looks better than on his previous outing. The effort to do well is there, but the situations make his act passable.

Bro’s narrative heavily depends on the chemistry between the two male leads. In this department, both Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej scored initially. It is not magical, but interesting nonetheless. However, after a point, the duo lack the content to take the chemistry to the next level.

Samudrakani directs Bro. It is a remake of his Tamil original Vinodaya Sitham, released as an OTT outing. The movie is about God giving a second chance and making the person realise the value of time.

The director gets to the core point of the movie quickly without wasting much time. The characters and the world are established within the first few minutes, and God’s entry soon follows it.

The characterisation of God (played energetically by Pawan Kalyan) and the fun banter between God and Mark carry the first half. Entertainment is nothing out of the world but makes the narrative tick. The fan-pleasing moments related to Pawan Kalyan are integrated well into the proceedings.

The ride until the interval is smooth and makes one look forward to the second half despite the okayish nature.

Unfortunately, the second half of the movie falters in engaging the viewer. The writing and situations are the culprits here. The former lacks depth, whereas the latter lacks relatability. Both are essential to lift the narrative to the next level, but it doesn’t happen.

The bond between God and Mark, too, feels stretched here. The entertainment which worked in the first half feels stretched and lacks the punch. It feels like Trivikram is trying too hard and yet visibly failing.

And finally, the critical emotional block has zero connection. The whole setting and the actors go through the motions artificially. It all feels inorganic and formulaic, ticking the boxes to complete the narrative. The ending message is good, but it’s a little too late.

The second half has a lot of scope, but the utter lack of effort to deliver on either count – fun or emotion- is the biggest disappointment. It feels as if the writer and director thought it enough (when it isn’t) and didn’t try anything at all.

Overall, Bro offers somewhat fresh, yet familiar plot. However, the content fails to generate the emotions. It leaves one disinterested by the end. Give it a try for the theme and decent fun initially, but keep the expectations firmly under check.

Kethika Sharma has a forgettable outing. She appears in a song in the first half and then a few scenes later disappears. She then appears in the second half intermittently and is gone. Priya Prakash Varrior, too, has a random part that fails to register. 

Rohini has a vital role in the proceedings but has been entirely wasted. Vennela Kishore does his usual, whereas Pruthvi appears briefly in what looks like a clear dig at a politician in the news.

SS Thaman has disappointed with the songs. There is no doubt in that regard. However, he makes up for it with the background score. It is pleasant and fresh and devoid of the usual cacophony associated with mass outings. However, the second half doesn’t register even on that count, as it lacks the meat. 

Sujith Vaassudevan’s cinematography is neat without overemphasis on visuals. The narrative looks clean and crisp when the regular drama happens. The visual effects could have been better. Trivikram’s writing works in parts only. The comedy is alright, but it is still nowhere near his best. The emotional blocks lack his trademark depth. It doesn’t feel like he has put his heart into it. The production values are okay.

Overall, BRO is partly entertaining with a somewhat fresh, yet familiar plot, but it lacks emotions and full-fledged fun. It ends up as a watchable fare at best. Not enough Bro!

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and his nephew Sai Dharam Tej are teaming up for the first time in BRO. The film directed by Samuthirakani is inspired by the Tamil film Vinodaya Sitham. BRO is carrying decent expectations and is hitting the screens today. Ketika Sharma and Priya Prakash Warrier played other important roles. Top director Trivikram worked on the screenplay and dialogues for the Telugu version. Bollywood beauty Urvashi Rautela danced for a special number. People Media Factory and Zee Studios are the producers. Here is the review

Story: Mark alias Markandeyulu (Sai Dharam Tej) is the breadwinner of the family. After losing his father at a young age, Mark raises his brother and two sisters. Mark is a principled family head who is loved by all at home and in the office. The fantasy turn in the story is his happy life abruptly ending in an accident and since then backed by the TIME character (played by Pawan Kalyan). Mark gets a 90-day extension to his life and the rest of the story is what happens in the 90-day grace period.

BRO film has been adapted from a Tamil film called ‘Vinodhaya Sitham’. Directed by the same director Samuthirakani, who handled the original, this Telugu film ‘BRO’ outcome is a mixed bag. To improvise the film on the commercial front, the Telugu version team has overly dependent on power star pawan kalyan’s charismatic past. The writing team has compiled all Pawan Kalyan hit songs, and inserted them throughout the film sometimes perfectly syncs with the context, sometimes forcibly. In the first half the theme worked out and appeared entertaining. Pawan Kalyan as TIME shows up in various characters and entertains fans. His costumes and histrionics are of his top-class form. The subtle political flavor dialogues are smartly embedded without being out of place.

The main story is philosophical in nature, the climax summarizes the essence of modern days life very well. However, this essence of the film is overshadowed by elements added to appeal to Pawan’s fans. At some point, this film appears as if we are watching a Pawan Kalyan AV played in audio functions or in prerelease functions. There is not much scope for songs, but the songs that exist are decent. Production values by ‘people media factory’ are adequate. The VFX work could have been better though. Trivikram’s  improvisation doesn’t help much other than inserting fans stuff

Performances:

Pawan Kalyan rescues this film with his screen presence.  Sai Dharam Tej acted adequately as Mark. However, in the dance sequences apparently, he is not comfortable yet. Brahmanandam appears in one scene, and it is a good one. Vennela Kishore and Tanikella Bharani had very limited roles. Primarily the entire film is carried out between Pawan and Sai Dharam Tej.

Bro film works only for fans, subpar experience for all others. While trying to commercially elevate Pawan’s character, the writing team has overstuffed the fan elements aspect and lost the original soul of the film. Thaman’s energetic background score and Pawan’s past hit songs keep this film alive. An average film AT THE BEST!

‘Bro’ movie review: Pawan Kalyan, Sai Dharam Tej cannot save this bore

Barring the occasional fun banter between uncle-nephew duo pawan kalyan and sai dharam tej, director samuthirakani’s telugu film ‘bro’, written by trivikram srinivas, is drab.

When a film banks heavily on a star’s hits from the past, referencing songs and dialogues from his blockbusters, but fails to have fresh standout moments, it can end up as a huge misfire. The Telugu film Bro - the Avatar , starring uncle-nephew duo Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej , is one such case in point. Director Samuthirakani who had written and directed the Tamil original Vinodhaya Sitham , reworks the plot to suit Pawan Kalyan’s and Sai Dharam Tej’s personas with the help of Trivikram Srinivas’ screenplay and dialogues. Yet, Bro ends up as a film that occasionally brings in some cheer but otherwise fizzles into a boring soap opera, despite a well-intended story. 

The core plot isn’t bad at all; it’s a relevant one that spells out the universal truth that none of us are indispensable; our home and workplace will adapt and move on irrespective of us. The story can work like a fable that makes the viewer take back a few lessons in humility. 

Samuthirakani and Trivikram Srinivas aptly call the central character Markandeyulu (Sai Dharam Tej). Mark, as his colleagues and friends refer to him, thinks he is presenting the best version of himself to his family and colleagues and that he knows the best. ‘I have no time’ is his constant refrain. 

Bro-the avatar (Telugu)

Bro explores the possibilities when Mark’s life is brutally cut short and time presents itself in a larger-than-life avatar of Pawan Kalyan who is named, hold your breath, Titan! Mark bides for time to fulfil his responsibilities. Titan, who is addressed by Mark as ‘bro’, comes to an agreement with Mark.

The introduction sequence of ‘time’ aka Titan has ample references to the ‘power’ in the ‘power star’ label. He is also presented as a metaphor for a porter who transports people between different worlds, dressed like in the ‘Vayyari Bhama’ song from Thammudu . The fun has just begun, so we don’t mind it. Soon, there are references to Tholi Prema, Khushi, Jalsa, Bheemla Nayak … All this would have been more fun had Bro come up with its share of original moments that can stand the test of time and serve as pop culture references in the years to come. 

Among the songs that play at regular intervals, the most fun and foot-tapping ones are the brief segments from Jalsa and Bheemla Nayak , not the new compositions. So it is with the dialogues as well. Brahmanandam (in a cameo) and Pawan Kalyan have a fun face-off. The duo have sparkled in better-written comic stretches in the past; here, the writing does not have the zing. It never raises above fan service, referencing old dialogues and the star’s political career.

Much of the first hour is spent showing how Mark reassesses his perceptions of people, at home and at work. The sub-plots featuring the siblings are predictable and the office politics too do not hold many surprises. Priya Prakash Varrier, Raja Chembolu, Tanikella Bharani and Ketika Sharma (as Mark’s girlfriend) get a few minutes to make their presence felt. Vennela Kishore is underutilized too. 

The one supporting character who gets to make an impact is Rohini. For a large portion, her role is like that of a stereotypical screen mother and the story conveniently relegates her to the background. When she is brought back, she springs a welcome surprise. This portion and the final segment where Mark gets to look at life afresh and have a heart-to-heart conversation with Titan are the only significant portions of the film.

Bro does not make Pawan Kalyan or Sai Dharam Tej do anything special. They merely go through the different emotional beats required of them. We have seen better from both of them. The subpar visual effects are also a dampener.

In hindsight, Gopala Gopala , in which Pawan Kalyan played God incarnate, was a more entertaining film.  Bro’s original, Vinodhaya Sitham, had a story centred on a middle-aged character (played by Thambi Ramaiah). The Telugu adaptation tweaks certain aspects to suit a younger protagonist and tries to pack in enough entertainment to cater to Pawan Kalyan’s fan base. Yet, lazily written and executed, it squanders its potential.

సస్పెన్స్‌, ట్విస్టులు ఒకటేమిటి? కన్నుమూసి తెరిచేలోపు చాలా మారిపోతుంటాయి. మనం ఏమరపాటుగా ఉండి, ఏ ఫోనో, మరేదో పనిలో అలా పక్కకు వెళ్లామంటే అంతే, తెరపై అసలేం జరిగిందో తెలుసుకోవడం కష్టం. అందుకే ‘బ్లింక్‌’ మూవీ ఇప్పుడు ఓటీటీ ప్రేక్షకుడు కళ్లు ‘బ్లింక్‌’ చేయకుండా చూస్తున్నారు.

అన్ని టైమ్‌ ట్రావెల్‌ కథల్లా నేపథ్యం ఒకటే అయినా, కాన్సెప్ట్‌ మాత్రం చాలా కొత్తగా డిజైన్‌ చేశారు. అపూర్వ (దీక్షిత్‌ శెట్టి) మధ్యతరగతి యువకుడు. చిన్న చిన్న ఉద్యోగాలు చేస్తూ జీవితాన్ని నెట్టుకొస్తూ ఉంటాడు. స్వప్న (మందార బత్తలహళ్లి)ను ప్రేమిస్తాడు. ఇద్దరికీ థియేటర్‌ ఆర్ట్స్‌ అంటే ప్రాణం. కలిసి నాటికలు కూడా ప్రదర్శిస్తూ ఉంటారు. అన్ని విషయాల్లోనూ అపూర్వకు స్వప్న సహకారం అందిస్తూ ఉంటుంది. ఈ క్రమంలో ఒకరోజు ఓ వ్యక్తి అపూర్వ జీవితంలోకి వస్తాడు. ‘కళ్లార్పకుండా ఎక్కువసేపు ఉండగలిగే అద్భుతశక్తి నీకు ఉంది. నేను చెప్పినట్టు చేస్తే నిన్ను గతంలోకి తీసుకెళ్తా. నీ తండ్రి అసలు బతికి ఉన్నాడా? లేదా? నువ్వు తెలుసుకోవచ్చు’ అని చెబుతాడు. మొదట అపూర్వ అతడి వ్యాఖ్యలను కొట్టేసినా, ఆ తర్వాత టైమ్ ట్రావెల్‌ చేసేందుకు వెళ్తాడు. మరి కాలంలో ప్రయాణించిన అపూర్వకు ఎలాంటి నిజాలు తెలిశాయి? అతని తండ్రి బతికే ఉన్నాడా? మళ్లీ వర్తమానానికి ఎలా వచ్చాడు?అన్నది కథ.

టైమ్‌ ట్రావెల్, టైమ్‌ లూప్‌లో చిక్కుకోవడం తదితర నేపథ్యాలు కలిగిన సినిమాలు ప్రేక్షకుడికి కొత్తేమీ కాదు. కానీ, ‘బ్లింక్‌’ ఇప్పటివరకూ వచ్చిన సినిమాలకు పూర్తి భిన్నం. అపూర్వ నేపథ్యం, అతడి ప్రేమ తదితర విషయాలను చెబుతూ కథలు మొదలుపెట్టిన దర్శకుడు అసలు పాయింట్‌కు రావడానికి కాస్త ఎక్కువ సమయమే తీసుకున్నాడు. అపూర్వ టైమ్‌ ట్రావెల్‌ చేయడానికి ఒప్పుకొన్న తర్వాతే అసలు కథ మొదలవుతుంది. అక్కడి నుంచి సినిమా చూస్తున్న ప్రేక్షకుడు తర్వాత ఏం జరుగుతుందో అస్సలు ఊహించలేడు. (Blink Movie Review) తన తండ్రిని కాపాడుకునేందుకు అపూర్వ చేసే ప్రయత్నాలు ఒకవైపు, మరోవైపు 1996లో జరిగే అరివు-దేవికల ప్రేమ, పెళ్లి వ్యవహారం.. మళ్లీ అపూర్వ వర్తమానం రావడం.. ఇలా కథ, కథనాలు సాగుతూ ఆద్యంతం ఆసక్తిని కలిగిస్తాయి.

వర్తమానంలో అచ్చం అపూర్వ లాంటి వ్యక్తి అతడికి తారస పడటం, స్వప్నతో అతడు కలిసిమెలిసి తిరగడం అసలు తనలాంటి వాడు ఎవడా? అని అపూర్వ కనుక్కొనే ప్రయత్నం చేయడం ఇలా ప్రతి ఎపిసోడ్‌ ఎంగేజింగ్‌గా సాగుతుంది. భ్రమ, వాస్తవానికి తేడా తెలుసుకోలేక అపూర్వ పడే ఇబ్బంది, మానసిక వేదన సినిమాలో లీనమైన ప్రేక్షకుడిని ఉద్విగ్నానికి గురిచేస్తుంది. ఇక చివరి అరగంట సినిమా మొత్తానికే హైలైట్‌. (Blink Movie Review) ఇక్కడ ఏ ఒక్క సీన్‌ మిస్సయినా మూవీ అస్సలు అర్థం కాదంటే దర్శకుడు, ఎంత పకడ్బందీగా స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేను డిజైన్‌ చేశాడో అర్థం చేసుకోవచ్చు. క్లైమాక్స్‌లో ట్విస్ట్‌లు ప్రేక్షకుడి మైండ్‌ బ్లాంక్‌ చేస్తాయి. నటీనటులు అందరూ తెలుగువాళ్లకు కొత్తే అయినా శ్రీనాథ్ డిజైన్‌ చేసిన పాత్రల్లో వాళ్లు ఇమిడిపోయారు. ఒక్కసారి కాన్సెప్ట్‌ ప్రేక్షకుడు కనెక్ట్‌ అయితే, సినిమాతో పాటు, మనం కూడా టైమ్‌ ట్రావెల్‌లోకి వెళ్లిపోతాం. అటు నటీనటుల పరంగా, ఇటు టెక్నికల్‌ మంచి ప్రయత్నం చేశారు.

After his political foray, Pawan Kalyan has acted in two films, Vakeel Saab and Bheemla Nayak, which sort of build up and carry forward his political persona on the screen. This film takes the same strategy one step further and shows him as god/time.Pawan Kalyan, Sai Dharam Tej film is meant for the fans only.

Overall, “Bro” has a promising start, and Pawan Kalyan’s early sequences are entertaining, but the film loses steam as it becomes more routine. It also has plastic emotions. There is a lack of strength in the writing, and the important sequences feel rushed.

On the whole, Bro is a fantasy drama that relies heavily on the performance of Pawan Kalyan. The star actors mannerisms and style will go well with fans. Sai Dharam Tej does a neat job, and a few of his scenes with Pawan came out well. The first half has some moments going its way. But the way emotions and drama is handled is not great. A few bland scenes will bog down the impact. Bro will appeal to fans, but for others, it will end up being an okay watch. Hence it is suggested to keep your expectations in check.

While trying to commercially elevate Pawans character, the writing team has overstuffed the fan elements aspect and lost the original soul of the film. Overall, Bro offers somewhat fresh, yet familiar plot. However, the content fails to generate the emotions. It leaves one disinterested by the end. Give it a try for the theme and decent fun initially, but keep the expectations firmly under check.

Bangalore Days Review: రానా, ఆర్య‌, స‌మంత‌, పార్వ‌తి, శ్రీదివ్య, బాబీసింహా ప్ర‌ధాన పాత్ర‌ల్లో న‌టించిన తెలుగు మూవీ బెంగ‌ళూరు డేస్ డైరెక్ట్‌గా అమెజాన్ ప్రైమ్ ఓటీటీలో రిలీజైంది. మ‌ల‌యాళ మూవీ బెంగ‌ళూరు డేస్‌కు రీమేక్‌గా తెర‌కెక్కిన ఈ సినిమాకు బొమ్మ‌రిల్లు భాస్క‌ర్ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌త్వం వ‌హించాడు.

శివ‌, దివ్య ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీ...

దివ్య (శ్రీదివ్య‌), అర్జున్ (ఆర్య‌), క‌న్నా(బాబీ సింహా)...ప్రాణ స్నేహితులు. చిన్న‌ప్ప‌టి నుంచి క‌లిసిపెరుగుతారు. దివ్య డిగ్రీలో టాప‌ర్‌. ఎమ్‌బీఏ పూర్తిచేసి సొంతంగా ఓ కంపెనీ పెట్టుకోవాల‌ని క‌ల‌లుకుంటుంది. కానీ త‌ల్లిదండ్రుల‌కు ఉన్న జాత‌కాల పిచ్చి కార‌ణంగా డిగ్రీతోనే దివ్య క‌ల‌ల‌కు పుల్‌స్టాప్ ప‌డుతుంది. శివ (రానా ద‌గ్గుబాటి) అనే సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఇంజినీర్‌ను పెళ్లి చేసుకొని భ‌ర్త‌తో క‌లిసి బెంగ‌ళూరు షిఫ్ట్ అవుతుంది. శివ ఎప్పుడూ ఉద్యోగ‌బాధ్య‌త‌ల‌తో బిజీగా ఉంటాడు.

దివ్య‌ను అస‌లుప‌ట్టించుకోడు. త‌న‌కంటే ముందు శివ జీవితంలో గ్రేస్ దేవ‌పుష్ప ( స‌మంత‌ ) అనే అమ్మాయి ఉంద‌నే నిజం దివ్య‌కు తెలుస్తుంది. ఆ త‌ర్వాత ఏమైంది? గ్రేస్‌ను ప్రాణంగా ప్రేమించిన శివ ఆమెకు ఎలా దూర‌మ‌య్యాడు? భార్య మంచిత‌నాన్ని, ప్రేమ‌ను శివ అర్థం చేసుకున్నాడా?

అర్జున్ క‌థ‌....

అర్జున్ త‌ల్లిదండ్రులు విడాకులు తీసుకుంటారు. అర్జున్ బాగోగుల‌ను ప‌ట్టించుకోరు. దాంతో చ‌దువు మ‌ధ్య‌లోనే ఆపేసిన అర్జున్‌ రేస‌ర్ కావాల‌నే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాల్లో ఉంటాడు. త‌ల్లిదండ్రుల‌పై ఉన్న ద్వేషం... కోపంగా మార‌డంతో కెరీర్‌పై ఎక్కువ‌గా ఫోక‌స్ పెట్ట‌లేక‌పోయాడు. అదే అత‌డి ల‌క్ష్యానికి అడ్డుగా మారుతుంది.

సారా అనే రేడియో జాకీ చేసే షో వింటూ ఆమెతో ప్రేమ‌లో ప‌డ‌తాడు. సారాకు రెండుకాళ్లు ప‌నిచేయ‌వు. త‌న అవిటిత‌నాన్ని జ‌యిస్తూ ఉన్న‌త‌చ‌దువుల కోసం విదేశాల‌కు వెళ్లే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాల్లో ఉంటుంది. సారా కూడా అర్జున్‌ను ఇష్ట‌ప‌డుతుంది. కానీ సారా త‌ల్లి వారి ప్రేమ‌కు అడ్డుగా నిలుస్తుంది. త‌న ప్రేమ‌ను సారాకు అర్జున్ చెప్పాడా...రేస‌ర్ అయ్యాడా...

క‌న్నా పెళ్లి క‌హానీ...

క‌న్నా తండ్రితో క‌లిసి వ్య‌వ‌సాయం చేయాల‌ని అనుకుంటాడు. ఊరిలోనే సెటిల్ కావాల‌ని కోరుకుంటాడు. కానీ త‌ల్లి మాత్రం ప‌ట్టుప‌ట్టి అత‌డిని చ‌దివిస్తుంది. బెంగ‌ళూరులో సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ జాబ్‌లో క‌న్నా జాయిన్ అవుతాడు. క‌న్నా తెలుగు సంప్ర‌దాయాలు, సంస్కృతుల‌ను గౌర‌వించే అమ్మాయిని పెళ్లిచేసుకోవాల‌ని అనుకుంటాడు.

బెంగ‌ళూరు డేస్ మ‌ల‌యాళంలో కేవ‌లం ఎనిమిది కోట్ల బ‌డ్జెట్‌తో చిన్న సినిమాగా రిలీజైంది. ఫ‌స్ట్ వీక్ ఈ సినిమాను ఎవ‌రూ చూడ‌లేదు. మౌత్‌టాక్‌తో మెళ్ల‌గా వ‌సూళ్లు పెరిగి చివ‌ర‌కు క‌ల్ల్ క్లాసిక్ బ్టాక్‌బ‌స్ట‌ర్‌గా నిలిచింది. బాక్సాఫీస్ వ‌ద్ద యాభై కోట్ల‌కుపైగా వ‌సూళ్ల‌ను రాబ‌ట్టింది.

రియ‌లిస్టిక్ అప్రోచ్‌…

బెంగ‌ళూరు డేస్‌లో పెద్ద‌గా క‌థంటూ ఏమీ ఉండ‌దు. ఓ ముగ్గురు స్నేహితులు.. ప్రేమ విష‌యంలో వారికి ఎదుర‌య్యే ఇబ్బందులు...వారి బాండింగ్‌...క‌ల‌ల‌కు వాస్త‌వాల‌కు మ‌ధ్య వారు ఎదుర్కొనే స్ట్ర‌గుల్స్‌ను మెడ్ర‌న్ స్టైల్‌లో రియ‌లిస్టిక్ అప్రోచ్‌తో మ‌ల‌యాళ ద‌ర్శ‌కురాలు బెంగ‌ళూరు డేస్‌ సినిమాలో చూపించారు. హీరోహీరోయిన్ల పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఆడియెన్స్ త‌మ‌ను తాము చూసుకునేలా చేయ‌డంలో ద‌ర్శ‌కురాలు స‌క్సెస్ అయ్యింది. ఆ నాచురాలిటీ మాత్రం తెలుగు వెర్ష‌న్‌లో మిస్స‌యింది.

మ‌ల‌యాళ ఒరిజిన‌ల్‌ను మ‌క్కీకి మ‌క్కీ కాపీ కొట్టేయ‌డంతో సినిమాలో ఎమోష‌న్ క‌నెక్టివిటీ క‌నిపించ‌దు. ఏదో మిస్స‌యిన వెలితి సినిమా చివ‌రి సీన్ వ‌ర‌కు క‌నిపిస్తూనే ఉంటుంది. ప్ర‌ధాన పాత్ర‌ధారుల యాక్టింగ్‌, వారికి ఎదుర‌య్యే స్ట్ర‌గుల్స్ అన్నీ ఆర్టిఫీషియ‌ల్‌గా అనిపిస్తాయి. పాత్ర‌కు త‌గ్గ న‌టుడిని ఎంపిక‌చేసుకోవ‌డం చాలా ముఖ్యం. అదే సినిమాకు మైన‌స్ అయ్యింది. అన్ని క్యారెక్ట‌ర్స్ మిస్ ఫిట్‌లా అనిపిస్తాయి.

క‌న్నా...క్యారెక్ట‌ర్‌తో సినిమా మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది. ఆ త‌ర్వాత అత‌డి వాయిస్ ఓవ‌ర్‌తో దివ్య‌...అర్జున్ పాత్ర‌ల‌ను ఫ‌న్నీగా ప‌రిచ‌యం చేశారు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. దివ్య పెళ్లితో...క‌న్నా జాబ్‌...వారిద్ద‌రి కోసం అర్జున్ బెంగ‌ళూరు రావ‌డంతో క‌థ ఎమోష‌న‌ల్ ట‌ర్న్ తీసుకుంటుంది. ఒక్కొక్క‌రి జీవితంలో ఒక్కో అవ‌రోధం...చివ‌ర‌కు వాటిని ఎలా దాట‌ర‌న్న‌ది చిన్న చిన్న స‌ర్‌ప్రైజింగ్ ఎలిమెంట్స్‌తో ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు చూపించాడు. మ‌ధ్య‌లో రానా, స‌మంత ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్ సీన్ ఆస‌క్తిని పంచుతుంది.

బెంగ‌ళూరు డేస్‌లో చాలా మంది హీరోహీరోయిన్లు ఉన్నారు. యాక్టింగ్‌, లెంగ్త్ ప‌రంగా అంద‌రికి స‌మంగా ఇంపార్టెన్స్ ఉంటుంది. అర్జున్‌ గా... జీవితంలో ఎలాంటి ల‌క్ష్యాలు లేని దూకుడైన కుర్రాడిగా అర్య ఎక్కువ‌గా హైలైట్ అయ్యాడు. అమ్ము పాత్ర‌కు శ్రీదివ్య న్యాయం చేసింది. అంత‌మందిలో షైన్ అయ్యింది. అల్ల‌రిత‌నం, అమాయ‌క‌త్వం క‌ల‌గ‌ల‌సిన పాత్ర‌లో ఆమె న‌ట‌న బాగుంది.

త‌ల్లి చాటు బిడ్డ‌గా బాబీసింహా సెటిల్డ్ యాక్టింగ్ క‌న‌బ‌రిచాడు. అత‌డి కామెడీ ట్రాక్‌లో అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డ న‌వ్వించాయి. పార్వ‌తి తిరువోతు చిన్న పాత్రే అయినా మెప్పిస్తుంది. స‌మంత ప‌ది నిమిషాలోపే పాత్రే కానీ ఉన్నంత‌లో అద‌ర‌గొట్టింది. రానా సినిమా మొత్తం సీరియ‌స్ లుక్‌లో క‌నిపించ‌డా. అంత‌గా అత‌డికి ఈ పాత్ర న‌ప్ప‌న‌ట్లుగా అనిపిస్తుంది.
