Straight out of Tollywood: “ RRR ,” a bigger-than-life and bolder-than-mainstream action-adventure epic, is performing mightily in international release as audiences marvel at its spectacle, embrace its emotions, and sway to its music while being repeatedly gobsmacked by its unfettered audacity. Propelled by the Telugu Cinema triumvirate of superstars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan and director S.S. Rajamouli — whose combined names are one reason for the triple-consonant title — the movie is such an irresistible and intoxicating celebration of cinematic excess that even after 187 minutes (including intermission or, as the title card announces, “InteRRRval”), you are left exhilarated, not exhausted. Which, truth to tell, is hard to say about certain comic-book movies from two major extended universes.

Mind you, the two protagonists here aren’t supposed to be superheroes. In fact, they are flesh-and-blood humans out of Indian history: Komaram Bheem, a revolutionary leader and guerrilla fighter from the Gond tribe during the British Raj; and Alluri Sitarama Raju, a similarly inclined insurgent who often led his under-equipped followers during raids on police stations to acquire firearms. There is no record of these two men ever meeting in real life. But hey, when have filmmakers ever allowed facts to get in the way of an exciting story? There also isn’t any record of their possessing any abilities more superhuman than cunning and charisma. But Rajamouli doesn’t let that bother him, either.

In the 1920s world according to “RRR” — which also stands for “Rise, Roar, Revolt,” when the full title finally makes its first appearance on screen — Raju, referenced here as Ram, is a fiercely determined firebrand from Andhra Pradesh who goes undercover as a member of the British army in the hope of arming his compatriots. Early on, he demonstrates his faux loyalty to the Crown — and more or less establishes his superhumanity — by singlehandedly punching, kicking, beating and otherwise manhandling what appear to be thousands of protesters to seize a guy who tossed a rock at a portrait in a police outpost. In most action movies, this sequence would satisfy as a rousingly over-the-top climax. In “RRR,” however, it’s nothing more than a curtain-raiser.

In the Adilabad forest, the working-class-heroic Bheem establishes his own preternatural bona fides while outrunning a wolf in order to lead the beast into a trap. Unfortunately, the wolf is taken out of the equation by a tiger, who proceeds to chase Bheem. Fortunately, Bheem is more than a match for the big cat, even when the trap doesn’t quite work. The tiger roars. Bheem roars back. And if you are fortunate enough to see “RRR” in a theater, as it is meant to be, the next roar you hear will be that of a cheering audience.

The fuse is lit for an explosive meeting of these exceptional men when the British governor Scott Buxton (Ray Stevenson) and his crueler-than-Cruella wife Catherine (Alison Doody) go slumming in a Gond village — accompanied, of course, by a contingent of heavily armed soldiers. Catherine is enchanted by a little girl named Malli (Twinkle Sharma), and claims the child as an amusing plaything to entertain guests in their palatial Delhi home. This doesn’t go over well with the child’s mother — or anyone else in the village, for that matter — but Buxton has enough muscle power to enforce his wife’s whim of iron. He doesn’t have anyone shot only because he doesn’t want to waste expensive bullets on “brown rubbish.”

At this point, you may be tempted to shout rude things at the screen. But don’t fear: Bheem vows to journey to Delhi and, with the aid of simpatico locals, retrieve Malli. It doesn’t take long for word of Bheem’s impending arrival to reach British authorities — and it takes even less time for Ram to volunteer to find and arrest the potential troublemaker. But fate (along with the shamelessly contrived scenario by Rajamouli and co-writers Sai Madhav Burra and K.V. Vijayendra Prasad) tosses both men a curve when each sees a boy trapped in a Delhi river while flaming railroad cars drop into the water around him. Both men rush to a conveniently located bridge — Ram on horseback, Bheem on a motorcycle — and improvise a rescue detailed in another jaw-dropping action set piece.

And all of this happens in the film’s first 40 minutes.

It would be unfair to spill more beans and spoil any fun by providing additional plot details or scene descriptions. (Just wait until you see what Bheem does with a truckload of nonhuman disruptors.) Suffice it to say that Bheem and Ram develop a deep friendship without either knowing the other’s true identity or grand designs, and they greatly enjoy each other’s company until they don’t, and then they do again. There are two splendiferously spirited song-and-dance sequence where the guys delight in their bromance, and they play like fever dreams of Stanley Donen directing an action-movie remake of “Singin’ in the Rain.”

Widely known as Jr NTR, N.T. Rama Rao Jr. is effective and empathy-grabbing as a seemingly ordinary man who achieves the extraordinary while evolving into an iconic hero. (He also gets a few laughs, especially during Bheem’s shy yet stealthy romance of a British beauty sweetly played by Olivia Morris.) Better yet, he has sensational chemistry with the more conventionally dashing Ram Charan. It may be overstating the case to suggest Charan carries himself with the authority and assurance of a deity — that is, when he’s not physically or emotionally anguished — but when Ram “borrows” the bow and arrow from a statue of Lord Rama, it seems less an act of sacrilege than an example of professional courtesy.

Echoes of John Woo abound in “RRR” as themes of loyalty, betrayal, and mutable identity are recurrently sounded, providing a powerful anchor of seriousness and mortal stakes during the most fantastical fights, flights and feats of derring-do. Occasionally your mind may tell you, “This is absurd!” Each time that happens, though, your heart will reply, “So what? Give me more!”

Devara Part 1

A number of unanswered questions plague “Devara: Part 1,” the fine, but familiar Telugu-language Indian action drama and star vehicle for “ RRR ” co-lead N.T. Rama Rao Jr. For starters, does this nautical-themed melodrama need to be the first part of a series, and will the heavily foregrounded promise of a sequel leave anyone but NTR’s fans wanting more? It’s hard to know in either case, and not because “Devara: Part 1” doesn’t provide sufficient answers.

First, some good news. Writer/director Kortala Siva (“Acharya”) succeeds at making his ensemble cast, including Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, look great, especially during meme-ready action scenes and dance numbers. The movie’s plot also unfolds at such a deliberate pace that it’s hard to argue that the movie’s either too slow or too predictable to warrant its 176-minute runtime. Which brings me to the bad news.

Too often, the familiar and unchallenging nature of “Devara: Part 1”’s stock tropes and twists hold the movie back from unqualified success. Variations on established themes aren’t necessarily the worst things in the world, but it does get frustrating when you’re watching a giant-sized pirate drama that so regularly swings from perfunctory to rewarding gestures and usually within the same scene.

It’s easy to forget and doesn’t ultimately matter, but most of “Devara: Part 1” is presented as a dramatized cautionary tale for a group of hapless Bombay cops who, in 1996, try to hustle their way into a community of butch seamen. Local storyteller Singappa (Prakash Raj) eulogizes Devara (Rao) and later his son Vara (also Rao), both of whom lead a divided group of villagers near the Ratnagiri mountains. For a while, piracy serves as the community’s main source of income, as we see in an over-inflated but fitfully rousing opening scene where Rao launches out of the water in slow-motion like he’s the second coming of Esther Williams. Eventually, Devara changes his mind about piracy after learning more about the guns he and his crew smuggle for shifty middleman Muruga (Murali Sharma).

Tensions periodically flair between Devara, a selfless leader who can also fight and dance, and Bhaira (Khan), his generically contrary rival. They fight to a standstill during an annual weapons ritual, where four burly men duke it out to decide which of their four villages will control a cache of weapons. Even this establishing brawl takes a spell to catch fire, but it does once Devara and Bhair tie their wrists together and take turns bashing each other into various hard surfaces.

This and a few more conventional pleasures make the first half of “Devara: Part 1” a pleasant enough sit. The plot moseys more than it charges forward, and the movie only arrives at a dramatic precipice before its pre-intermission break. At this point, the drama stops being about Devara and Bhaira’s rivalry and starts concerning Vara, now an adult and the uneasy bearer of his father’s legacy. This back half of the movie occasionally capitalizes on its initial promise, especially whenever the relatively timid Vara tries to fill his dad’s mega-sized shoes. That struggle sets up a rather obvious twist, which then corkscrews into a more novel twist, ultimately laying the groundwork for the implicitly promised sequel. Sure, sure, but why aren’t there more fight scenes in the water? Couldn’t there have been punchier dialogue, and maybe some more dancing and less exposition?

These burning questions threaten to eclipse the most charming parts of “Devara: Part 1,” particularly supporting performances from diligent character actors like Sharma and Srikanth, as well as Kapoor’s scene-stealing turn as Thangam, Vara’s flirtatious love interest. A packed matinee screening in Times Square took a bathroom break during Thangam’s prescribed solo dance number; they missed the movie’s best musical number. My audience did not, however, forget to roar with applause whenever Rao performed a heroic flex or danced along to songs that they’d already committed to memory. Rao’s emotional range still isn’t vast, but he does unleash a devastating charm offensive whenever he fights (with great posture) or dances (with disarming exuberance). A few set pieces also feature a couple of stand-out images and effects, but only a few have enough momentum and flair to sustain their entire length.

So how badly do we need a “Devara: Part 2”? Siva rarely challenges his charming ensemble cast to step outside of their comfort zones, but he and his collaborators still deliver a lot of what you might want from an action-musical about a pack of murderous, but righteous pirates. A sequel could be a thrilling improvement on what this middling tentpole riser sets up. It could also sink beneath the heavy weight of viewers’ otherwise reasonable expectations.

Iddaru Movie Review: యాక్షన్ కింగ్ అర్జున్ తెలుగులో ఎన్నో సినిమాలు చేశారు. కన్నడలో కూడా ఎన్నో సినిమాలు చేశారు. అలాగే తమిళంలో కూడా వరుస సినిమాలు చేసి స్టార్ డం అందుకున్నారు. ప్రస్తుతానికి ఆయన హీరోగా చేయడం లేదు అడపాదడపా మాత్రమే అలాంటి సినిమాలు చేస్తున్నారు. అయితే కన్నడ నాట ఒప్పంద అనే సినిమా 2022లో రిలీజ్ అయింది. ఈ సినిమాలో జెడి చక్రవర్తి మరో కీలక పాత్రలో నటించారు ఈ సినిమాని తెలుగులో ఇద్దరు పేరుతో తాజాగా రిలీజ్ చేశారు. డీఎస్ రెడ్డి సమర్పణలో ఫరీన్ నిర్మాతగా నేహా రెడ్డి మరో నిర్మాతగా ఈ సినిమాని తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు ముందుకు తీసుకొచ్చారు. మరి ఈ సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది ప్రేక్షకులను ఎంతవరకు ఆకట్టుకుంది అనేది ఇప్పుడు రివ్యూ లో చూద్దాం.

కథ విషయానికొస్తే.. సంజయ్ రంగస్వామి (అర్జున్) ఓ మల్టీ మిలియనీర్. ఆయనకు ఎన్నో కంపెనీలు నడుపుతూ ఉంటాడు. సంజయ్ కు చెందిన సాఫ్ట్ వేర్ కంపెనీలో పనిచేస్తుంటాడు చక్రి(జేడీ చక్రవర్తి). అతనికి రాత్రి రాత్రే కోటీశ్వరుడు కావాలనే ఆశ ఎక్కువ. ఈ క్రమంలో అతను తన బాస్ అయిన అర్జున్ ను ఓ లేడీతో హనీ ట్రాప్ చేయాలని ట్రై చేయగా అది తెలిసి అర్జున్ మరో ప్లాన్ చేస్తాడు. అలా ఒకటి కాదు రెండు కాదు ఇద్దరి మధ్య పెద్ద చదరంగమే నడుస్తూ ఉంటుంది. ఫైనల్ గా సంజయ్ రంగస్వామిని చక్రి ట్రాప్ చేయగలిగాడా? చక్రి ఉచ్చులో సంజయ్ రంగస్వామి ఇరుక్కున్నాడా? లాంటి విషయాలు తెలియాలంటే సినిమాని చూడాల్సిందే.

విశ్లేషణ: హనీ ట్రాప్ అనేది ఈ మధ్యకాలంలో ఎక్కువ మీడియాలో వినిపిస్తున్న పదం. ఎక్కువగా డిఫెన్స్ రంగాల్లో ఉన్న అధికారులను ట్రాప్ చేసి వారి నుంచి రహస్యాలు రాబట్టే ప్రక్రియ ఇప్పటికే ఫేమస్. ఇక ఈ సినిమాలో కూడా దర్శకుడు సమీర్ కథను ఇద్దరు ఇంటెలిజెంట్ వ్యక్తుల మధ్య జరిగిన ఎత్తుకు పై ఎత్తుల నేపథ్యంలో తెరకెక్కించాడు. ఎన్నో వేల కోట్లకు అధిపతి అయిన అర్జున్ ను హానీ ట్రాప్ చేసి కోటీశ్వరుడు కావాలనుకున్న అతని కంపెనీలో పనిచేసే జేడీ చక్రవర్తి ఎలాంటి ఎత్తులు వేశాడు? అతని ఎత్తులను పసిగట్టి అతనికి పైఎత్తులు సంజయ్ ఎలా వేశాడు? అనే విషయాలను కాస్త ఆసక్తికరంగా తెరకెక్కించడంలో దర్శకుడు సఫలమయ్యాడు. అయితే ఈ సినిమా ఎప్పటిదో అనే విషయం ఈజీగా అర్థమయిపోయేలా ఉంది అది కాస్త మైనస్ అయ్యే అవకాశం ఉంది. మొత్తంగా దర్శకుడు తాను ఎంచుకున్న కథకు అదే తరహా కథనంతో మెప్పించడానికి ప్రయత్నం చేసి చాలావరకు సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడు. కొన్ని లాజిక్కు లేని సీన్స్ పక్కన పెడితే అక్కడక్కడ బోర్ కొట్టించినా.. ఓవరాల్ గా యాక్షన్ లవర్స్ కోరుకునే అన్ని అంశాలు ఈ సినిమాలో గట్టిగానే ఉన్నాయి. ఎత్తుకు పై ఎత్తులు వేయడంతో నెక్ట్స్ ఏం జరుగుతుందనే ఆసక్తి సినిమాపై పెంచడంలో దర్శకుడు కొంత వరకు సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడు..

నటీనటుల విషయానికొస్తే.. యాక్షన్ కింగ్ అర్జున్ గురించి కొత్తగా చెప్పాల్సిన పనిలేదు. తనదైన నటనతో పాటు యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాల్లో అదర్కొట్టాడు. జేడీ చక్రవర్తి కూడా తన పాత్రకు న్యాయం చేసి ఢీ అంటే ఢీ అనేలా నటించాడు. మొత్తంగా ఇద్దరు సినిమాకు టైటిల్ కు తగ్గట్టు పోటాపోటీగా నటించారు. ఇక ప్రస్తుత కేంద్ర మంత్రి కుమారి స్వామి భార్య రాధిక కుమార స్వామి తన పాత్రలో ఒదిగిపోయింది. సోనీ ఛరిష్టా తన గ్లామర్ తో అలరించిందనే చెప్పొచ్చు. ఇక టెక్నికల్ టీం విషయానికి వస్తే సంగీతం పర్వాలేదు. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ కూడా సినిమా స్థాయికి తగ్గట్టుగా ఉంది. బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ మ్యూజిక్ సినిమాకి అదనపు ఆకర్షణ. ఎడిటింగ్ టేబుల్ మీద మరింత కాన్సన్ట్రేట్ చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది.

Tollywood Film Industry: A brief history

The Telugu film industry is a segment of India's vast entertainment sector that focuses on making movies in the Telegu language. It is commonly known as the Tollywood industry (not to be confused with the Bengali film industry, which is also called the Tollywood industry).

The Telugu film industry emerged in the early 1900s. Since 1909, filmmaker and producer Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu produced various short films in the Telegu language and traveled to various parts of Asia to promote them. In 1921, R. V. Naidu produced a silent film named "Bhishma Pratigna", which is generally considered to be the first Telegu feature film. And Raghupathi V. Naidu came to be known as the "Father of Telegu Cinema."

Since then, the Tollywood industry has been producing and delivering high-class films. In 1933, director C. Pullayya's film "Sati Savitri" received was given an honorary diploma at the 2nd Venice International Film Festival. Moreover, released in 1951, the Telugu film "Pathala Bhairavi" was the only South Indian film screened at the first India International Film Festival. Furthermore, many Telugu films like Malliswari, Devadasu, Mayabazar, Maa Bhoomi, and others have been recognized internationally and have been listed on CNN-IBN's list of the "100 Greatest Indian Films of All Time."

Somayajulu, Manju Bhargavi, Chandra Mohan, and Rajyalakhsmi. It is considered to be one of the best Telugu language movies. The film even won the "Prize of the Public" at the Besançon Film Festival of France in 1981. In fact, Forbes included J. V. Somayajulu on its list of "25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema" for his performance in the film.

Pelli Choopulu (translation: Matchmaking) is a Telugu romantic-comedy film that was released in 2016. The film is written and directed by Tharun Bhascker and features South star Vijay Deverakonda, who has garnered much attention for recent films like Liger, and Ritu Varma in the lead roles. The story of the film revolves around the two protagonists and is loosely based on a real-life story of a couple who started the popular "Spitfire BBQ" food truck in Bangalore back in 2014.

Manmadhudu (translation: Cupid) is a Telugu rom-com that was released back in 2002. The film is directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskara and written by Trivikram Srinivasa, who directed the movie Athadu (listed above). It stars the South superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni, Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, and Anshu Ambani. The film was a commercial hit and also received the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film of 2002.

The film revolves around Rishi, a San Francisco-based investment banker who comes to India to search for the missing child of his ex-girlfriend. It was a commercial success at the box office and also received positive reviews from critics. The film was also remade in Tamil as Sathya and in Hindi as Baaghi 2.

25) Prasthanam (2010) | IMDb Rating - 7.8

Prasthanam (translation: Reign) is a Telugu political-action drama movie that was released in 2010. The film is directed and written by Deva Katta and stars Sharwanand, Sai Kumar, and Sundeep Krishnan. It was the career debut of Krishnan, who has now become a pretty big name in the South film industry.

As for the success of the film, Prasthanam received two Filmfare Awards South and two Nandi Awards, following its release. It was also remade by Deva Katta in Hindi with the same title in 2019 and was deemed one of the "25 Greatest Telugu Films of the Decade" by Film Companion.

హానీ ట్రాప్ అంటే ఏమిటి? బాస్ అర్జున్‌పై చక్రీ ప్రయోగించిన హానీ ట్రాప్‌లో అమ్మాయి ఎవరు? బాస్‌ను హానీ ట్రాప్‌లో ఎలా ఇరికించాడు? చక్రీ కుట్రను అర్జున్ పసిగట్టాడా? అర్జున్, చక్రీ మధ్య జరిగిన సైకాలజికల్ గేమ్ ఏమిటి? చక్రీ ఎత్తులకు అర్జున్ వేసిన పై ఎత్తులు ఏమిటి? అనే ప్రశ్నలకు సమాధానమే ఇద్దరు సినిమా కథ.

కన్నడలో ఒప్పండా, తెలుగు భాషల్లో ఇద్దరు టైటిల్‌తో రూపొందిన ఈ సినిమా చాలా కాలం క్రితమే ప్రారంభమైంది. కొన్ని కారణాల వల్ల రిలీజ్ ఆలస్యమైంది. ఈ చిత్రంలో సుప్రసిద్ద దర్వకులు కే విశ్వనాథ్, కర్ణాటక మాజీ ముఖ్యమంత్రి కుమారస్వామి సతీమణి, సీనియర్ హీరోయిన్ రాధిక కుమారస్వామి, బాలీవుడ్ మిస్టర్ ఫర్‌ఫెక్ట్ అమీర్ ఖాన్ సోదరుడు ఫైజల్ ఖాన్ లాంటి యాక్టర్లు నటించడంతో ఈ సినిమాపై ప్రత్యేకమైన దృష్టి పడింది.

హానీ ట్రాప్ బ్యాక్ డ్రాప్‌తో దర్శకుడు ఎస్ఎస్ సమీర్ రాసుకొన్న పాయింట్ బాగుంది. అర్జున్ సర్జా, జేడీ చక్రవర్తి, రాధిక కుమారస్వామి పాత్రలను బాగా డిజైన్ చేసుకొన్నాడు. కానీ కథను తెర మీదకు తీసుకు రావడంలో తడబాటు కనిపించింది. అయితే ముఖ్యంగా మూడు పాత్రల మధ్య డ్రామాను బాగా నడిపించే ప్రయత్నం చేసినట్టు కనిపిస్తుంది. చివరకు తన కథకు న్యాయం చేసేందుకు చేసిన నిజాయితీ దర్శకుడిలో కనిపిస్తుంది.

ఇక అర్జున్ సర్జా, జేడీ చక్రవర్తి, రాధిక కుమారస్వామి గురించి, వారి యాక్టింగ్ స్కిల్స్ గురించి కొత్తగా చెప్పాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు. రిచ్ బిజినెస్‌మ్యాన్‌గానే కాకుండా డిఫరెంట్ రోల్‌తో అర్జున్ సర్జా మెప్పించారనే చెప్పాలి. నెగిటివ్ షేడ్స్ ఉన్న క్యారెక్టర్‌లో జేడీ చక్రవర్తి ఆకట్టుకొన్నాడు. అర్జున్, ఆయన ఇద్దరు పోటీ పడి నటించారు. రాధిక కుమారస్వామి, ఫైజల్ ఖాన్, కే విశ్వనాథ్ ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణే కాకుండా తమ పాత్రలకు పూర్తిగా న్యాయం చేశారని చెప్పవచ్చు.

సాంకేతిక విభాగాల పనితీరు విషయానికి వస్తే.. అమీర్ లాల్ అందించిన సినిమాటోగ్రఫి, సుభాష్ ఆనంద్ ఈ సినిమాకు బలంగా నిలిచాయి. కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు చూస్తే.. ప్రభు ఎడిటింగ్ విషయంలో కొంత షార్ప్‌గా వర్క్ చేయాల్సిందేమో అనిపిస్తుంది. అమ్మా రాజశేఖర్ కొరియోగ్రఫి ఫర్వాలేదనిపిస్తుంది. ఎస్ ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్ బ్యానర్‌పై ఫర్హీన్ ఫాతీమా పాటించిన నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి. సీనియర్ యాక్టర్లతో రాజీ లేకుండా సినిమాను నిర్మించడం హర్షించదగిన విషయంగా చెప్పుకోవచ్చు.

హానీ ట్రాప్ స్టోరీ బ్యాక్ డ్రాప్‌గా మూడు పాత్రల మధ్య జరిగే డ్రామాతో నడిచే సైకాలజికల్ థ్రిల్లర్. అర్జున్, జేడీ చక్రవర్తి, రాధిక కుమారస్వామి, విశ్వనాథ్ లాంటి నటీనటుల ఫెర్ఫార్మెన్స్, సాంకేతిక అంశాలు ఈ మూవీకి ప్లస్ పాయింట్. కథా పరంగా లోపాలు, సన్నివేశాల్లో ఇంకా బెటర్‌గా రాసుకొని ఉంటే థ్రిల్లింగ్ మూమెంట్స్‌తో సినిమా మరో రేంజ్‌కు వెళ్లే అవకాశం ఉండేదనిపిస్తుంది. స్టార్ హీరో, హీరోయిన్ల సినిమాలను, థ్రిల్లర్స్‌ను ఇష్టపడే వారికి ఈ మూవీ నచ్చుతుంది.

I liked the movie I watched it and two songs as well. Ajay was fierce in the film. Ananya, Noel, and Jiva have all done very well. To produce a film on this scale for NRIs takes a certain amount of dedication and commitment.

It’s been a very long time since Gopichand had a proper hit, and the actor pinned his hopes on the action drama Bhimaa. Kannada filmmaker A. Harsha directed this film, which features Malvika Sharma and Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female leads. The film generated a good buzz with its trailer and hit the screens on this auspicious Maha Shivarathri day. Let’s see how it is.

Bhimaa (Gopichand) is a playful cop who has a unique style for dealing with criminals. He becomes a pain in the neck for Bhavani (Mukesh Tiwari), who exerts his control over Mahendragiri. Bhimaa falls in love with a school teacher, Vidya (Malvika Sharma). Vidya has massive respect for Ravindra Varma (Nassar), who cures various health issues through some medicinal leaves. Ravindra Varma asks Bhimaa for a favor, which turns the latter’s life upside down. What is it that Ravindra Varma asked Bhimaa? How did Bhavani try to escape the wrath of Bhimaa? What happened later? You need to watch the film to know the answers.

Plus Points:

In the recent times, Bhimaa is easily the massiest role played by Gopichand. The director added a few attributes to Bhimaa’s role to give the film a different feel, and Gopichand portrayed the playful cop role exceptionally. The actor never looked this energetic off late, and his macho looks and masculine avatar will make the masses go gaga. There is another dimension to his role, and Gopichand showed nice variation in it, too.

The movie starts on an interesting note with a voice-over explaining the origin of Parasuramuni Kshetram. This opening sequence, which lasts about 15 minutes, will draw our attention. The interval episode raises the stakes and makes us look forward to the second half. Malvika Sharma’s role gets more weight during the pre-climax, and the actress did well here. Naresh, Mukesh Tiwari, Raghu Babu, and Chammak Chandra are decent in their roles.

The movie reaches its peak in the last half an hour. The emotions, powerful dialogues, key twist, and heroism elevation scenes are neatly presented here, and due to this, the intense showdown clicks big time. The few comedy moments involving Vennela Kishore and Rohini came out well. The action sequences are superbly conceived. The impactful background score by Ravi Basrur takes the high-voltage hair-rising scenes to the next level.

Minus Points:

After the good introductory episode, the movie slowly loses its grip as it moves forward. The film hits a roadblock once the love track is introduced. It is understandable that the makers made the film keeping the mass audience in mind, but the way the entire love portions are designed is vulgar and will be uncomfortable for a few sections of the audience.

The first half is devoted entirely for the characterization of Bhimaa, but the problem is too much screen time is taken by the love track. The main point in the film could have been highlighted in a better manner. It is brought in just during the halfway mark, and the other key character, based on whom the whole second half depends, should have been given more space.

The dialogues, the romantic scenes, and the gore visuals might restrict the film’s appeal to a wider audience. The overuse of the back-and-forth style screenplay will cause confusion at times as it becomes difficult to follow the timelines. Priya Bhavani Shankar did well but her role doesn’t have depth.

Technical Aspects:

These days, most films are having stunning visuals, and Bhimaa is no different. Cinematography by Swami J. Gowda is top-notch, and especially the night sequences are well showcased through his lens. The production values are exquisite. The songs are decent, but Ravi Basrur’s background score is good. Mass films like this need to have good action scenes, and Bhimaa gets its right in this aspect.

Director A. Harsha incorporated a fantasy element in this mass-action drama. The mass scenes and the climax portions are presented neatly. He also showcased Gopichand in a solid manner, but the way the love track is written and shown is disappointing. This is the biggest drawback of the film, and it will hinder the impact to some extent. As said earlier, the back-and-forth screenplay is confusing at times.

On the whole, Bhimaa is a massy action drama that has some decent moments in both halves. Gopichand is hyperactive in the film, and he delivers an intense performance. The beginning, interval, and last half an hour are handled well, but the rest of the portions needed better execution. The boring love track is one aspect that brings down the film considerably. The core point should have been highlighted more, and the movie’s potential isn’t utilized completely. The film will appeal to the mass audience than the other sections.
