What is a coursepack?
If you teach from assorted materials you compile into your own curated textbook, that's a coursepack! We also hear it called a "course pack", "course packet", "note pack", or sometimes just a "packet". More expensive versions are sometimes described as custom textbooks or customized textbooks, but these terms all describe educational materials with content customized for an academic course.
Content typically included in coursepacks include any of the following items:

- Journal articles

- Chapter excerpts
- Open Educational Resources (OER)
- Lecture Notes, & Syllabi
Why use a coursepack?
Coursepacks add value to the students' educational experience by providing learning material in an easily accessible print format. Studies show that increased comprehension occurs when reading from print, and also show that students prefer to use print especially for deep learning situations. Using a coursepack is perfect for instructors who teach from a variety of content sources, and wish to teach from print.

I'm an instructor, how do I get started?
First, organize all of the digital content you want to include in your coursepack. Next, detail the copyright information for each item you are using. If you own the copyright on any of the content, that's great! We are happy to work with content creators. If you are using 3rd-party materials, we will need the publication details so we can contact the rights holders. We use the Copyright Clearance Center for most clearances, and when necessary contact publishers directly.
Can I add Open Educational Resources (OER) into my coursepack?
Yes, you can. Just be sure to include the copyright information on that material when submitting it to us for our reference.
I'm with a bookstore, how do I place an order for a coursepack used on a campus our store serves?
Please email us at [email protected] , and indicate the quantity, in addition to the university/class/instructor for the coursepack you would like to order, or call us at (814) 231-1256 .
I'm a student, where can I buy my coursepack?
CourseWorks ® coursepacks are sold primarily through bookstores on campus. For international students, we distribute selected CourseWorks ® coursepacks through our website.
