सनी देओल की फिल्म 'गदर 2' का इंतजार फैंस को बेसब्री से था. इस फिल्म का पहला पार्ट 'गदर' साल 2001 में रिलीज हुआ था. यही वो फिल्म थी जिसने सनी देओल को फैंस का फेवरेट एक्टर बनाया और उन्हें 'हिंदुस्तान जिंदाबाद' का नारा दिया. अब 22 सालों के लंबे इंतजार के बाद तारा सिंह एक बार फिर बड़े पर्दे पर लौट आए हैं. आइए बताएं उन्होंने इस फिल्म के साथ सिनेमाघर में कितना गदर मचाया.

क्या है गदर 2 की कहानी?

'गदर 2' की शुरुआत काफी धुआंधार अंदाज में होती है. शुरुआत में नैरेटर नाना पाटेकर आपको तारा सिंह और सकीना की कहानी सुनाते हैं. कैसे तारा को सकीना मिली, उसे सकीना से प्यार हुआ और फिर कैसे अशरफ अली अपनी बेटी को वापस पाकिस्तान ले गया था. छोटे चरणजीत उर्फ जीते को आप एक बार फिर अपनी मां की याद में रोते देखेंगे. 'गदर' के अंत में तारा अपनी सकीना और जीते को पाकिस्तान से वापस भारत ले आया था.

नशे में धुत सनी देओल, मुंबई की सड़कों पर दिखे लड़खड़ाते? एक्टर ने खुद बताया सच 

इसके आगे की कहानी कुछ इस तरह है कि तारा सिंह एक ट्रक ड्राइवर है. वो आज भी सकीना से प्यार करता है और उसके लिए गाने गाता है. तारा का काम इंडियन आर्मी के पंजाब बेस के आसपास है, जहां कर्नल देवेंद्र रावत (गौरव चोपड़ा) काम करते हैं. तारा का बेटा चरणजीत उर्फ जीते बड़ा हो गया है और कॉलेज जाने लगा है. तारा चाहता है कि वो पढ़-लिखकर बड़ा आदमी बने. लेकिन जीते को धर्मेंद्र और राज कपूर की तरह मुंबई जाकर एक्टर बनना है.

दूसरी तरफ पाकिस्तान में जनरल हामिद इकबाल, तारा सिंह से दुश्मनी मोल लेकर बैठा है. जब तारा सिंह, सकीना को अशरफ अली से छुड़वाकर लाया था तब उसने हामिद के 40 जवानों को अकेले मार गिराया था. तब से उसे हिंदू और हिंदुस्तानियों से नफरत हो गई थी. अब उसकी जिंदगी का मकसद है तारा सिंह को ढूंढना और उसका खात्मा करना. इस बीच वो अपने सामने आने वाले हिंदू और हिंदुस्तानी इंसान पर खूब जुल्म कर रहा है.

ये 1971 का समय है जब पाकिस्तान के साथ भारत की लड़ाई होने जा रही है. इस बीच किसी वजह से तारा का बेटा जीते पाकिस्तान पहुंच जाता है. अब तारा को जीते को लेने एक बार फिर पाकिस्तान जाना होगा, जहां हामिद इकबाल अपने मंसूबों को अंजाम देने के लिए उसकी राह तक रहा है. क्या तारा अपने बेटे को बचाकर वापस भारत ला पाएगा? यही फिल्म में देखने वाली बात है.

फर्स्ट हाफ है स्लो 

फिल्म की शुरुआत काफी ढीले नोट पर होती है. शुरू में आपको पिछली कहानी का रिकैप दिया जाता है. इसके बाद काफी ड्रामैटिक तरीके से नई कहानी पर्दे पर दिखाई जाती है. फर्स्ट हाफ में आपको कम ही मजा आएगा. फिल्म के पहले हिस्से को देखकर लगता है कि किसी को एक्टिंग आती ही नहीं है. डायरेक्टर भी निर्देशन भूल गए हैं. अमीषा पटेल और उत्कर्ष शर्मा की एक्टिंग में खास दम नहीं है. सनी देओल अपने कंधों पर इसे चला रहे हैं. इंटरवल तक आते-आते ये ढीली फिल्म थोड़ी बेहतर होने लगती है. और जैसे ही इंटरवल खत्म होता है और फिल्म का वक्त और उसके जज्बात बदल जाते हैं.

एक्शन और डायलॉग्स भर देंगे जोश

सेकंड हाफ को देखकर लगता है कि 'हां, गदर देखने आए हैं'. तारा सिंह और जीते पाकिस्तानी फौज और हामिद इकबाल से जिस तरह खुद को बचाते हैं और जैसे उनका सामना करते हैं उसे देखते हुए आपका दिल खुश होता है. फिल्म का सेकंड हाफ एक्शन और एडवेंचर से भरा हुआ है. तारा सिंह ने पिछली फिल्म में हैंडपंप उखाड़ा था, लेकिन इस फिल्म ने वो नेक्स्ट लेवल पर चले गए हैं. एक से बढ़कर एक दमदार सीन सेकंड हाफ में हैं. उत्कर्ष शर्मा ने बहुत बढ़िया तरीके से सनी देओल का साथ दिया है. दोनों की केमिस्ट्री एक्शन सीक्वेंस में देखते ही बनती है. आप कह ही नहीं सकते कि दोनों असल जिंदगी में बाप-बेटे नहीं हैं. उत्कर्ष का रफ एंड टफ लुक भी काफी किलर लग रहा है. सेकंड हाफ में तारा सिंह ने फिल्म और जनता दोनों में मानों जान ही फूंक दी है.

परफॉरमेंस की बात करें तो सनी देओल को तारा सिंह के किरदार में देखना काफी रिफ्रेशिंग है. उनका वही दमदार अंदाज आपको बड़े पर्दे पर देखने को मिलेगा. उनकी डायलॉग डिलीवरी, अमीषा पटेल संग रोमांस और उत्कर्ष शर्मा के साथ मस्तीभरे, एक्शन और इमोशनल सीन्स काफी बढ़िया हैं. उत्कर्ष शर्मा का काम काफी बढ़िया है. फिल्म के दूसरे हिस्से में उन्होंने कमाल ही कर दिखाया है. अमीषा पटेल ने अपने रोल को ठीकठाक निभाया है. उनके अलावा सिमरत कौर रंधावा ने भी अच्छा काम किया है. फिल्म के विलेन मनीष वाधवा ने अपना काम अच्छे से किया है. कई जगह वो ओवर होते दिखे लेकिन वो उनके किरदार की डिमांड थी. 

लगता है कि डायरेक्टर अनिल शर्मा पहले से जानते थे कि उन्हें फिल्म के किस हिस्से पर सबसे ज्यादा मेहनत करनी है. हालांकि 'गदर 2' के बेस्ट पार्ट तक पहुंचने में उन्होंने काफी समय लिया, लेकिन इसे देखकर मजा जरूर आएगा. फिल्म की एडिटिंग अच्छी है. लेकिन इसे थोड़ा छोटा जरूर किया जा सकता था. फर्स्ट हाफ स्लो है और उसमें ज्यादा एक्शन नहीं, तो वो देखने में और ज्यादा लंबा लगता है. एक चीज जो एकदम बढ़िया है वो है फिल्म का म्यूजिक. मूवी में आने वाले सभी गाने अच्छे हैं और सीन्स को सपोर्ट करते हैं. ये फिल्म एक्शन, रोमांस, ड्रामे और इमोशन्स से भरी हुई है, जिसे आप एक मौका देना चाहें तो बुरा नहीं होगा.

Gadar 2 Movie Review: साल 2000 में सनी देओल और अमीषा पटेल की फिल्‍म ‘गदर’ ने जो तहलका मचाया था, उसकी गूंज क‍िस्‍से कहान‍ियों में आज भी सुनाई देती है. उस दौर में न‍िर्देशक अन‍िल शर्मा की इस फिल्‍म को देखने लोग ट्रैक्‍टरों में भर-भर कर स‍िनेमा हॉल तक पहुंचे थे. 23 सालों बाद अन‍िल शर्मा, तारा स‍िंह और सकीना की इस ‘गदर: एक प्रेम कथा’ के आगे की कहानी लाए हैं. सनी देओल, अमीषा पटेल की इस फिल्‍म की दूसरी क‍िस्‍त आज स‍िनेमाघरों में र‍िलीज हो गई है. 1971 के लाहौर में सेट इस कहानी में तारा स‍िंह के अकेले पाकिस्‍तान में जाकर अपने प्‍यार के ल‍िए लड़ता है. सालों पहले इस कहानी को दर्शकों ने खूब पसंद क‍िया था. देखते हैं, 23 सालों बाद भी क्‍या तारा स‍िंह और सकीना की ये कहानी ‘गदर’ मचा पाएगी? चल‍िए इस र‍िव्‍यू के जरिए बताती हूं.

जानें क्‍या कहती है कहानी: तारा स‍िंह और सकीना अब पठानकोट में अपने बेटे जीते के साथ रहते हैं. जीते के स‍िर पर फिल्‍मों का भूत सवार है और तारा स‍िंह चाहता है कि उसका बेटा अब पढ़ ल‍िखकर बड़ा आदमी बने, उसकी तरह ट्रक ड्राइवर नहीं. दूसरी तरफ पाकिस्‍तानी का मेजर हाम‍िद, तारा स‍िंह के ल‍िए द‍िल में जहर भरे बैठा है और क‍िसी भी हालत में तारा स‍िंह को खत्‍म करना चाहता है. तारा स‍िंह की ज‍िंदगी में ट्व‍िस्ट तब आता है जब एक बार फिर उसका बेटा पाकिस्‍तान में फंस जाता है. प‍िछली बार सकीना को बचाकर लाने वाला तारा इस बार अपने बेटे जीते को बचाकर लाएगा. अब ये कैसे होता है, यही देखने आपको फिल्‍म देखने जाना होगा.

एक्‍ट‍िंग और डायरेक्शन एक्‍ट‍िंग की बात करें तो तारा स‍िंह के अवतार में सनी देओल फिर से छा गए हैं. चाहे सकीना के आगे प‍िघलना हो या फिर गुस्‍से वाले सीन, सनी देओल का स्‍टाइल आपको पसंद आएगा. अमीषा पटेल के पास रोने और शरमाने से ज्‍यादा कुछ है नहीं. वो ठीक रही हैं. फिल्‍म में इस बार उत्‍कर्ष शर्मा को खूब स्‍पेस द‍िया गया है. उत्‍कर्ष अपने अंदाज में ठीक भी लगे हैं. हालांकि वो कई जगह थोड़े ओवर एक्‍ट‍िंग करते हुए लगे हैं. अमरीश पुरी की कमी को पूरा करने का काम मनीष वाधवा ने क‍िया है. वाधवा मेजर हाम‍िद के अंदाज में जंचे हैं. ज‍ितना खूंखार उन्‍हें लगना था, उतना लगे हैं.

क्‍या काम करेगा फिल्‍म का फर्स्‍ट हाफ काफी लाइट और कहानी को बढ़ाने वाला है. शुरुआत में क‍िरदारों का बैकग्राउंड बताने के ल‍िए नाना पाटेकर की आवाज सुनाई देती है, जो जच रही है. अगर आपने हाल-फिलहाल में ‘गदर’ नहीं देखी तो ‘गदर 2’ देखने के ल‍िए आपको उसे दोबारा देखने की जरूरत नहीं पड़ेगी, क्‍योंकि पहली कहानी की पूरी छलक शुरुआत में द‍िखाई गई है. ‘गदर 2’ को नॉस्‍टेलज‍िया के पूरे नंबर म‍िलेंगे. चाहे ‘गदर’ के गाने हों या फिर पुराने क‍िरदारों की झलक, पुरानी फिल्‍म की कई यादें जरूर याद आएंगी. फर्स्‍ट हाफी में कहानी लाइट से इमोशनल हो जाती है. ‘गदर 2’ एक फुल ऑन मसाला एंटरटेनर फिल्‍म है और इसकी सारी ताकत इसके डायलॉग्‍स में है. फिल्‍म में कई डायलॉग ऐसे हैं जब ताल‍ियां और सीट‍ियां बजाई जाएंगी. फिल्‍म के क्‍लाइमैक्‍स में ‘ह‍िंदुस्‍तान ज‍िंदाबाद’ वाला पूरा स‍िच्‍युएशन क्र‍िएट क‍िया गया है और यकीन मान‍िए पूरे थ‍िएटर में कोई न कोई तो ऐसा होगा ही जो इस फिल्‍म को देखते हुए ये नारा जरूर लगाएगा.

क्‍या नहीं जमेगा फिल्‍म की कमजोरी साब‍ित हो सकती है इसकी लंबाई जो अखरती है. गाने बहुत ज्यादा है और उनकी लंबाई भी काफी है. हर थोड़ी-थोड़ी देर में गाने आते हैं जो कहानी के पेस को खराब करते हैं. ये भारीपन इंटरवेल के बाद ज्‍यादा महसूस होता है. सेकंड हाफ में बहुत से चेज सीक्वेंस है, जो एक हद के बाद बोर करने लगते हैं. और हां, अगर 23 साल बाद आप उम्‍मीद कर रहे हैं कि फिल्‍म में हो रही चीजों के पीछे बहुत ज्‍यादा लॉज‍िक की उम्‍मीदें करेंगे, तो ये आपकी गलती है, मेकर्स की नहीं. एक और बात, हो सकता है कि ये फिल्‍म देखने के बाद आपका बंदूकों, गोला बारूद और बम वगैरह की ताकत से विश्वास ही उठ जाए. ऐसा लगता है कि ये सब फिल्‍म में बस धूल उड़ाने और आग न‍िकालने के लिए हैं. क्‍योंकि मर तो इनसे कोई नहीं रहा.

When the words ‘Gadar 2’ flash on the big screen and you are not taken inside the film through Om Puri’s stern but pleasant baritone, you wonder whether the first-day first-show investment was right. But moments after Sunny Deol appears on the big screen, you know it is worth sitting through. Slowly and steadily, you are inducted inside the happy world of Tara Singh, Sakina (Ameesha Patel) and their son Jeetey (played by director Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh Sharma). And suddenly, you feel like you are in 2001 again, as the audience roars and hoots.

The story of ‘Gadar 2’ takes off from where the makers had left things in 2001. And that is a clever move. A sequel of a story made 22 years later would have found itself in a tough spot, if a grown-up Jeetey used a mobile phone and spoke to his parents in millennial lingo. Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) has created a home with his beloved Sakina, his love for whom increases with each passing day. Their son is a college-going lad, whose love for his father takes him places (and not in a way it is supposed to be).

Out of the many things, ‘Gadar 2’ makers did one thing right. They played on nostalgia from the very start. As snapshots from the 2001 film fill the semi-modern void, you are reminded of what a simple world it used to be. How pure love and relationships felt when terms such as ‘ghosting’, ‘breadcrumbing’ and ‘gaslighting’ did not exist. And that's how you start connecting with the movie. While dialogues such as ‘biwi se kaam karwaungi’ in ‘Gadar’ sparked sexism debates, the makers clearly avoided controversies and focused more on the ‘katha continues’ angle this time around.

Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) was a desh bhakt then, is a desh bhakt now. He now has a small, cosy life in India but still has a nemesis (Hamid Iqbal played by Manish Wadhwa) in Pakistan. Sunny is all of 65 but defies every inch of it with ‘Gadar 2’. He still possesses the same energy, swag and his famous ‘ayee’ scream that stops a whole army. Tara Singh is an icon and Sunny proves that yet again with his acting prowess.

While ‘Gadar’ was all about Ameesha Patel, her role as Sakina is sparsely spread across the film in its sequel. This time, it is more about a father-son’s love for each other. As far as Ameesha is concerned, the actor was brutally trolled for her blue lens when ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ reprised version was released, but watch ‘Gadar 2’ to know why the makers made that specific choice. Remember her blue eyes in the first part? While it might not have looked so easy on her this time, it would be safe to say that the actress was successful in reviving her primitive innocence and the sisak-sisak ke rona . However, one wishes the makers had kept more of her in the film other than just giving her oodles of heavy jewellery and wonderfully designed salwar suits. But full marks to her for taking on Sakina’s baton and doing justice to her part.

Utkarsh Sharma made his acting debut as a child actor as Chiranjeet Singh (Jeetey) in father Anil Sharma’s ‘Gadar’ in 2001. And now he plays an evolved version of the same character in the sequel. It would be safe to say that Utkarsh put on a rather great show and successfully made the film his own, of course, along with everyone’s beloved Tara. That is no easy job when you share screen space with a powerful performer like Sunny Deol. While we can’t say Utkarsh stood out, but he surely owned the screen and how! While his dialogue delivery needs some work, he nailed his action sequences like a pro.

Hamid Iqbal, played by Manish Wadhwa, is Pakistan's Army Commander and is safe to say, the primary antagonist here. His character has his ways of turning bitter against India and Indians that really evokes emotions in you, but you know a baddie's job is done well if you can't help but hate him. A powerful artist that he is, 'Gadar 2' and Tara Singh couldn't have had a better foe. Simrat Kaur, who plays Muskaan in the film, is pretty and does her job well. She has scanty but meaty bits in the film and we have no complaints. Some of the key highlights of the film are the nostalgic pieces attached. Gul Khan returns and so does his wife, Dolly Bindra! It is oh-so-fun to see her playing herself in the film!

Director Anil Sharma cleverly tries to cover up for late Amrish Puri and Darmiyan (played by Vivek Shauq). He’s also retained iconic moments from the first part, such as the hand pump climax scene. However, this time, you get a light pole! That’s it. No more spoilers.

The only few duds about the film would be Ameesha’s reduced screen time and the love angle, which were the highlights of the first part. Also, the over-dramatisation of certain scenes and too many songs. However, there’s not much to complain since the film you are watching defines a full-on Bollywood popcorn masala entertainer. The action bit seemed stretched too towards the end and there was a moment you’d want the antagonist killed, but then you have to wait, and some more.

While the first part is spent on establishing the emotional content and pretext, the second half is where most meat lies. There’s Sunny Deol jumping atop moving trains, hailing slogans for India, talking about the tricolour, Pakistan, bombing and lots of ‘ayee’! What more can you possibly ask for?

All in all, ‘Gadar 2’ supersedes expectations, as it successfully tugs at your heartstrings. And there’s Sunny Paaji to do all the heavy-lifting (pun intended).

Some six years after a stubborn Amrish Puri finally relented and let his daughter go – with the words, " Jaa Simran jaa " – we had another blockbuster where a stubborn Amrish Puri finally relented and let his daughter go: in effect saying " Jaa Sakina jaa ." Both DDLJ and Gadar were blockbusters, and yet one film is still revered today while the other… not many talk about it, let alone write books and make documentaries about it. At least by the establishment, Gadar has generally come to be dismissed as a product of its time – but watching it again shows how powerful it is, how fresh it is. For one, how many films show the hero as a bloodthirsty Muslim-killer in his very first appearance? Later, his Muslim wife says, " Tum bhi to musalmaanon ko maar rahe the na - to mujhe kyon chhod diya ?" And he realises that hatred and rage can grip you when your relatives and friends are massacred, but love sets you free. Hence the unusual title, Gadar: Ek ‘Prem Katha’ . It’s an action film, but it’s built on a love story.

Now, consider the other side, after Sakina lands up in Pakistan and her parents refuse to let her go back to India. She says she cannot live without her son. Her mother reminds her that she, too, is living without her son – that is, Sakina's brother, who was butchered in front of her eyes as the family was fleeing to Pakistan. Gadar is filled with rock-solid masala moments, and the pinnacle is not the hand-pump scene but what happens just before that, when our hero is asked to embrace Islam if he wants his wife back. " Tumhe Islam qubool hai ?" he is asked, and I recall how – upon the film's initial release – I expected him to burst into Sunny Deol-ian rage. It's a screenwriting masterstroke to subvert those audience expectations and have him say, very calmly… " qubool hai ", and later agree to even say " Pakistan zindabad ." But – and here's what good masala writing is about – there’s a point that becomes a deal-breaker, and that’s when he’s asked to say, "Hindustan murdabad ." That is something Tara Singh won’t do. Again, because this is a ‘prem katha’ , he chooses love. He has it in his heart to love Pakistan and wish its people well – but not at the cost of hating India and Indians.

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel return as Tara Singh and Sakina in Gadar 2 , directed, again, by Anil Sharma, and written, again, by Shaktimaan Talwar. The two decades between the films have not been kind to masala cinema, as the art died slowly at the hands of people making movies for a more, um, “sophisticated” audience. Even Pathaan , which I quite enjoyed, is more “homage masala ” than the real deal – and my main curiosity about this sequel was whether it would bring those older beats back. It does, and – to a large extent – in exactly the same way. One of the most time-tested methods of making a sequel is to tweak the formula but not necessarily reinvent the wheel. Which is why we laugh in Die Hard 2 , when Bruce Willis's wife wonders, after the terrorist attack, "Why do these things keep happening to us!" It's a knowing wink at the audience. In Gadar , the wife was stuck in Pakistan, and Tara Singh had to go and get her back. In Gadar 2 , their son gets stuck in Pakistan, and Tara Singh has to go get him back.

The first half is just wonderful. In the most classic way, it both reminds us of the earlier film and lays the path forward for the new one. We get reruns of Uttam Singh's blockbuster songs, 'Udja kaale kawaan ' and 'Main nikla gaddi leke' – the first to establish the ongoing ' prem katha ' between Tara Singh and Sakina, and the second to reinforce the ' prem katha ' between the parents and the son, Charanjeet. Ameesha and Sunny play their parts exactly the same way – the former with an alphabet-level arsenal of expressions (she's essentially the Punjabi version of the gajar halwa -serving maa ), and the latter with the secure knowledge that we never really went to a Sunny Deol movie to watch him act . Does he still look like he can uproot a hand pump with a bellow that can make the residents of the neighbouring state look up and wonder if it's going to rain? Yes, he does. End of story.

The surprise is Utkarsh Sharma, who, from some angles, resembles Vijay Deverakonda. He has a soft face, which the film is quick to acknowledge: a line talks about his " masoom chehra ". But he brings across the love for his parents, and a much-needed vulnerability that makes you root for his safety. He also gets a sharply sketched-out love angle with Simrat Kaur. This angle helps the story along, and takes the basic premise (“love knows no borders”) to the next generation. Manish Wadhwa takes over the Pakistani villain duties from Amrish Puri. The late actor's character arc is convincingly brought to an end, and the new villain is also someone whose hatred for India harks back to 'prem' : his family was butchered during the Partition. Plus, Tara Singh made a fool of the Pakistani army by killing 40 soldiers in the earlier film. All of this gives him enough motivation to refocus his hatred of a nation onto a single person. Manish Wadhwa gets lines like "Reham ki koi keemat nahi hai mazhab ki bazaar mein ", and he snarls them out with enough spittle to make you want to set Tara Singh loose on him. In other words, mission accomplished.

The story lays out all these narrative and character beats incrementally, so that by the interval point, we are fully primed for Tara Singh's invasion of Pakistan. But what's surprising is how emotional (as opposed to bombastic) both the pre-interval and post-interval portions are. Pre-interval, we get a plot point from Randhir Kapoor's Henna , which sets up the reason for Tara Singh to go missing for a while. In other words, we get a worried son. And just after the interval, we get a worried father. The emotion behind Tara Singh's foray into Pakistan is not that of a hero but that of a parent. We get one of Mithoon's lovely songs, Khairiyat , where Tara Singh makes a plea to " do jahan ke malik ", a god of two countries, two religions, to keep his son safe. Speaking of music, the film, set in 1971, uses a number of genres to colour its backdrop, from a thumri to soft jazz to the humming that opens a song from Aradhana .

The second half turns, expectedly, into a Sunny Deol show. But again, because the son is also involved, we get interesting diversions like a reversal of "love jihad" , where Hindu men are accused of seducing innocent Muslim girls. The scene where Tara Singh reveals himself is solid: " sambhavami yuge yuge " echoes in the background, as Tara Singh holds up a cannon wheel that makes him look like Krishna with the Sudarshana Chakra. (The Gadar films are pan-religious.) But the last quarter of Gadar 2 gets repetitive and isn't as inspired as what came before it. We smile at the nod to the hand-pump moment, but when Tara Singh begins to uproot bigger and bigger things, it quickly becomes ridiculous (though still fun in a campy way). Also, the constant separations and reunions of father and son become tiring – though it's nice, after ages, to see the trope of the family song bringing family members together.

The main problem in the film’s last quarter (where the masala flavour transforms to "mass" flavour) is the over-the-top action, which is clumsy and should have been staged much better – given that there's so much of it. The relentless slo-mo gets very annoying. And the simpler patriotism of the earlier film is replaced with a more strident voice, with Vande Mataram chants and so forth. But the core of the 'prem katha ' is never forgotten. We get the Good Muslim in a beautifully written scene involving Charanjeet and a Pakistani woman who gives him shelter. It's just emotional enough, without getting too sentimental. And there's a superb reimagining of the traditional Hindi-cinema " bidaai scene", where the bride is sent off to her in-laws' – but in the midst of great danger. All said, Gadar 2 works, and Tamil viewers will know what I mean when I say I left the theatre with the feeling of having watched a damn good 198os Vijayakanth movie.

गदर 2 की कहानी

गदर की कहानी सनी देओल, अमीषा पटेल और उनके बेटे उत्कर्ष शर्मा की है. जो शांति से अपना जीवन जी रहे हैं. लेकिन भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच तनाव है. ऐसे में तारा सिंह यानी सनी देओल को किसी काम से जाना पड़ता है. फिर कुछ ऐसा होता है कि बेटे जीते यानी उत्कर्ष को भी एक मिशन पर निकलना पड़ता है. लेकिन हालात कुछ ऐसे बन जाते हैं कि सनी देओल को एक बार फिर पाकिस्तानी जनरल से टकराना पड़ता है जो एक पुरानी रंजिश पाले हुए है. इस तरह फिल्म कहानी काफी कच्ची लगती है. फिल्म की लेंथ काफी लंबी है और जिन्होंने गदर देखी होगी, वह समझ जाएंगे कि गदर 2 में ऐसे मौके बहुत ही कम हैं, जिन्हें देखकर रोंगटे खड़े हो जाएं. कुल मिलाकर अनिल शर्मा ने कहानी के मोर्चे पर कुछ भी नया करने की कोशिश नहीं की है. गदर जैसी कल्ट फिल्म के लिए गदर 2 जैसा सीक्वल थोड़ा निराश करता है. 

गदर 2 का डायरेक्शन

अनिल शर्मा कहानी और डायरेक्शन दोनों ही मामले में चूक गए हैं. सीन काफी पुराने टाइप के लगते हैं. एक्शन भी बहुत ही औसत दर्जे का है. डायरेक्शन के मामले में भी अनिल शर्मा नयापन नहीं ला पाते हैं. सबसे पहली बात यह कि गदर जैसी फिल्म के सीक्वल के लिए कहानी धमाकेदार होनी चाहिए. लेकिन अनिल शर्मा यहां चूक जाते हैं. कुल मिलाकर सनी देओल ही फिल्म की यूएसपी हैं, लेकिन यहां उत्कर्ष शर्मा को एक बार फिर लॉन्च किया जा रहा है तो उनका स्क्रीनस्पेस कम हो जाता है. 

गदर 2 में एक्टिंग

गदर 2 में अगर कोई एक्टर फुलफॉर्म हैं तो वह सनी देओल हैं. वह तारा सिंह के किरदार को परदे पर उतारने के लिए हर वह काम करते हैं जो कर सकते हैं. 66 साल की उम्र में उनकी फिटनेस वाकई कमाल है. लेकिन बाकी सितारे अमीषा पटेल, उत्कर्ष शर्मा और मनीष वाधवा उनका साथ देने में कामयाब नहीं रहते हैं. कुल मिलाकर फिल्म बहुत ही एवरेज साबित होती है. 

गदर 2 वर्डिक्ट

गदर 2001 में आई थी तो धमाल हो गया था. फिल्म की प्रेम कहानी, विभाजन के दौर के रोंगटे खड़े कर देने वाले सीन और तारा सिंह की पाकिस्तान में दहाड़, बेमिसाल था. लेकिन एक बार फिर तारा सिंह पाकिस्तान जाता है सबकुछ बहुत ही बनावटी और देखा हुआ सा लगता है. कई सीन तो गले ही नहीं उतरते हैं. इस तरह सनी देओल के फैन्स को ये फिल्म जरूर पसंद आ सकती है, जिन्होंने गदर देखी हुई है, उन्हें जरूर निराशा हो सकती है.

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel celebrate one year of Gadar 2: “Hindustan ki asli blockbuster”

Sunny Deol has much to celebrate as his 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2 marks its first anniversary. The film, which reignited Deol's status at the box office, has not only garnered massive success but has also redefined his career. Reflecting on the past year, Sunny took to Instagram to express his gratitude to fans worldwide, calling Gadar 2 a "revolution" in his life.

On Sunday, Sunny shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, alongside a video clip from the film. In his caption, he expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming love and support the film received. “One year of the revolution in my life Gadar 2 . The love you all showered from across the globe, the way that you all made the release a festival, the way you celebrated Tara Singh and his family, made theatres turn into carnivals was and will be unmatched for a long time,” he wrote.

He added in his post, “Your love has injected a new life into all of us and this success is all yours. Love Tara Singh. 1 year of Gadar 2, Hindustan ki asli blockbuster.”

The film, a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, brought back Tara Singh and Sakina, played by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, respectively. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, where Tara Singh embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue his son Charanjeet 'Jeete' Singh, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma. The intense narrative and powerful performances struck a chord with audiences, making Gadar 2 one of the most successful Hindi films of the year, with a box office collection of Rs. 525.45 crores, as per Bollywood Hungama .

Ameesha Patel, who reprised her role as Sakina, also took to Instagram to celebrate the film’s milestone. Sharing a photo of herself with Sunny from the film, she wrote, “Today as Gadar 2 celebrates its 1st anniversary – a heartfelt thank you for making create a TSUNAMI at the box office and making it Hindustan ki asli blockbuster!! Congrats to team Gadar 2 and the love of Sakina’s life, her Tara Singh, Sunny Deol.”

Moving forward, Sunny Deol has a couple of projects in the pipeline including Baap , Border 2, Lahore 1947, Safar and SDGM .

Gadar 2 Review: सनी देओल (Sunny Deol) अमीषा पटेल (Ameesha Patel) की गदर 2 रिलीज के लिए तैयार है. ये फिल्म 11 अगस्त को सिनेमाघरों में दस्तक देने जा रही है. फिल्म को लेकर लोग काफी एक्साइटेड हैं और इसके रिलीज होने का इंतजार नहीं हो रहा है. गदर के 22 साल बाद इसका सीक्वल आ रहा है. खास बात ये है कि फिल्म में पुरानी स्टारकास्ट ही नजर आने वाली है. जिसकी वजह फिल्म को लेकर लोग काफी खुश हैं. सनी और अमीषा ने हाल ही में फिल्म की स्क्रीनिंग इंडियन आर्मी के लिए रखी थी. जिसके बाद फिल्म का पहला रिव्यू सामने आ गया है.

गदर 2 की स्क्रीनिंग दिल्ली में इंडियन आर्मी और उनकी फैमिली के लिए रखी गई थी. इस स्क्रीनिंग में फिल्म की स्टारकास्ट भी शामिल हुई थी. खास बात ये है कि इंडियन आर्मी को सनी देओल की गदर 2 बहुत पसंद आई है.

आंखें हुईं नम बॉलीवुड हंगामा की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक इंडियन आर्मी के कुछ लोगों ने अपने परिवार के साथ फिल्म देखी. स्क्रीनिंग के दौरान आंसुओं और तालियों की गड़गड़ाहट के बीच फिल्म के मेकर्स उनके रिएक्शन देखकर बहुत खुश थे. सनी देओल, अमीषा पटेल और उत्कर्ष शर्मा की एक्टिंग को उन्होंने सराहा.'

रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक गदर 2 की स्क्रीनिंग को बहुत शानदार रिस्पॉन्स मिला है. बल्कि गदर एक प्रेम कथा से भी अच्छा. स्क्रीनिंग में वो लोग हिंदुस्तान जिंदाबाद के नारे लगा रहे थे. जो रिस्पॉन्स मिला वो एनर्जेटिक और पॉजिटिव है.

गदर 2 की बात करें तो इसे अनिल शर्मा ने ही डायरेक्ट किया है. इस फिल्म में सनी देओल, अमीषा पटेल और उत्कर्ष शर्मा लीड रोल में नजर आएंगे. वहीं विलेन के किरदार में मनीष वाधवा नजर आने वाले हैं. इस फिल्म का क्लैश अक्षय कुमार की ओएमजी 2 से होने वाला है. देखना होगा दोनों में से कौन-सी फिल्म बाजी मारती है.

गदर: मूवी रिव्यू

इस फिल्म की मूल आत्मा ऐक्शन नहीं, बल्कि प्रेम है. इसे सनी देओल, सनी देओल, अमरीश पुरी और सनी देओल के लिए देखा जाना चाहिए..

साल था 2001. तीन हज़ार लोग सिनेमा के बाहर इकट्ठे हुए, बोले: "अभी पिक्चर दिखाओ, नहीं तो थिएटर तोड़ देंगे." ये पिक्चर थी सनी देओल की 'गदर : एक प्रेम कथा'. पूरा किस्सा आप यहां क्लिक करके पढ़ सकते हैं. अपन असली मुद्दे पर आ धमकते हैं. ‘गदर 2’ से पहले 'गदर' रिलीज हुई है. अभी मेकर्स का ये एक तरह का पायलट प्रोजेक्ट है. इसे लिमिटेड थिएटर्स में रिलीज किया गया है. बढ़िया माहौल जमने पर स्क्रीन्स बढ़ाई जाएंगी. खैर जो भी हो, हमने 'गदर' देख ली है. आपको बताते हैं कि फ़िल्म कैसी लगी?

इस फिल्म पर दो हिस्सों में बात होनी चाहिए. फर्स्ट हाफ बिल्कुल स्वीट और सेकंड हाफ ऐक्शन से भरपूर. इंटरमिशन एकदम उस जगह आता है, जहां अशरफ अली अपनी बेटी सकीना को प्लेन में बिठाकर पाकिस्तान ले जा रहा होता है. हालांकि फिल्म खुलती ही मारकाट से है. ओम पुरी का नरेशन बंटवारे की सूचना देता है. उसके बाद पाकिस्तान से लाशें भरकर आती हैं और यही हिन्दुस्तान की तरफ से भी होता है. दंगे होते हैं. तारा सिंह अपनी मैडम जी को यानी सकीना को बचाता है. फिर कैमरा एक बहुत प्यारे गिफ्ट, प्रेम की निशानी ताजमहल पर ज़ूम होता है. लिखकर आता है, 'गदर: एक प्रेम कथा'. मुझे फिल्म का नाम इंट्रोड्यूज करने का ये तरीका बहुत पसंद आया. चूंकि ज़ूम शॉट की बात हुई है. इसलिए इस पर ज़रा रुककर बात कर लेते हैं. आधुनिक फिल्म ग्रामर में ज़ूम शॉट को बहुत क्लीशे और दोयम दर्जे का माना जाता है. आजकल के फिल्ममेकर अपनी फिल्मों में इसके इस्तेमाल से बचते हैं. डॉली ज़ूम शॉट तो यूज होता है, पर सिम्पल ज़ूम नहीं होता. लेकिन 'गदर' में अनिल शर्मा ने इस शॉट का सिनेमैटोग्राफर नजीब खान की मदद से बहुत अच्छा इस्तेमाल किया है.

बहरहाल, मैं ये कह रहा था, फर्स्ट हाफ मुझे बहुत ज़्यादा पसंद आया. दूसरा भी अच्छा है. पर उसमें ज़्यादा एक्शन दिखाने के चक्कर में फिल्म की सॉफ्टनेस छूट गई है. मेरी निजी राय है, इस फिल्म की मूल आत्मा ऐक्शन नहीं, बल्कि प्रेम है. तारा सिंह सबकुछ अपने प्रेम को बचाने के लिए ही करता है. पहले सवा घंटे में फिल्म आपकी आत्मा को छूती है. दूसरे हाफ में फोकस शिफ्ट मारधाड़ पर ज़्यादा हो जाता है. हालांकि सनी देओल होंगे, तो ऐक्शन का होना स्वाभाविक है. उनकी टारगेट ऑडियंस ही ऐसी है. फिल्म का एक्शन है भी ज़ोरदार.

ये बहस यहीं छोड़ते हैं. आगे की तरफ बढ़ते हैं. सनी देओल और अमीषा पटेल के इंट्रोडक्ट्री सीन की एक खासियत है. दोनों पहली बार जब फ्रेम में आते हैं, सिर्फ उनकी आंखें दिखती हैं. खासकर सनी देओल का इंट्रोडक्शन. कई सेकंड तक उनकी आंखों के भाव ही दिखते हैं. पहले समभाव, फिर क्रोध. इसके बाद ज़ोर से चिल्लाने पर उनका चेहरा दिखता है. और थिएटर में बजती हैं, तालियां. ऐसे कई मौके आए, जब थिएटर तालियों और सीटियों से गूंज उठा. आखिरी कुछ मिनट में तो ये लगातार हुआ. चाहे सनी का हैन्डपम्प उखाड़ना हो या हिन्दुस्तान जिंदाबाद वाला डायलॉग बोलना. या फिर वीजा पर दस्तखत से इनकार किए जाने पर उनका कहना: "एक कागज़ पर मोहर नहीं लगेगी तो क्या तारा पाकिस्तान नहीं जाएगा? मुझे मेरे बच्चे को उसकी मां से मिलाने से कोई ताकत, कोई सरहद नहीं रोक सकती."

इस फिल्म में मुझे मासूम सनी देओल ज़्यादा अच्छे लगते हैं. जब वो प्यार से सकीना को ताजमहल गिफ्ट करते हैं, या फिर जब गाने गाते हैं. मज़ा आता है. ऐक्शन तो वो करते ही एक नम्बर हैं. दो ऐक्शन सीन इस फिल्म की जान हैं. दोनों की कोरियोग्राफी बहुत अच्छी है. एक तो जब कुछ लोग तारा के घर सकीना को मारने के लिए घुस आते हैं. इसके बाद तारा जो लाठी लेकर जुटता है, मौज आ जाती है. दूसरा सीन है, मालगाड़ी में चढ़कर भारत भागने का. ये सिर्फ ऐक्शन के लिहाज से अच्छा सीक्वेंस नहीं है. बल्कि कैमरा वर्क के लिहाज से बहुत जबरदस्त सीक्वेंस है. करीब 10 मिनट लम्बे इस सीन को शूट करना बहुत कठिन रहा होगा. पर बहुत बढ़िया शूट है, चाहे मूविंग शॉट हों या स्टैटिक. अनिल शर्मा ने एक बार ऐसा किस्सा भी सुनाया था कि रेलवे ट्रैक पर शूट करने के लिए मोटर ट्रॉली मिली नहीं, तो उन लोगों ने मैनुअल ट्रॉली धक्का लगाकर ऑपरेट की. इसमें क्रू के ऊपर ट्रेन चढ़ते-चढ़ते बची थी. 

अमीषा पटेल सकीना के रोल में बढ़िया हैं. उनका अपीयरेंस अच्छा है. कई मौकों पर उन्होंने अभिनय भी बढ़िया किया है. पर कई मौकों पर ओवर ऐक्टिंग भी बहुत की है. खासकर जब कई सालों बाद वो अपने परिवार से बात करती हैं. उस सीन में भयानक ओवर ऐक्टिंग है. दरमियान सिंह के रोल में विवेक शौक़ का काम बहुत बढ़िया है. उनकी कॉमिक टाइमिंग सीधे आपकी बत्तीसी पर चोट करती है. वैसे कॉमिक टाइमिंग सनी देओल की भी अच्छी है. अमरीश पुरी को मैंने अब तक बड़े पर्दे पर दो बार देखा है. एक बार जब ‘डीडीएलजे’ को दोबारा रिलीज किया गया. दूसरी बार 'गदर' में. उनमें क्षण को पकड़ लेने की अद्भुत क्षमता है. वो कमाल के कलाकार हैं! ऐसा कोई सीन नहीं, जिसमें लगे कि वो अपना 100 प्रतिशत नहीं दे रहे. अमरीश पुरी स्क्रीन के जादूगर थे. जब उन्हें बताया जाता है, सकीना जिंदा है और वो उससे बात करने के लिए सब छोड़कर भागते हैं. न उसमें अमरीश पुरी कमर्शियल फिल्मों की नाटकीयता आने देते हैं और न ही आर्ट फिल्मों की झलक. यहां दोनों तरह के सिनेमा का संगम होता है. ये अमरीश पुरी ही कर सकते थे. ये तो ऐक्टिंग की बात हुई. 'गदर' का म्यूजिक भी कल्ट है. उत्तम सिंह ने हमें कमाल का गिफ्ट दिया है. उदित नारायण की आवाज़ थिएटर में सुनना एक अलग अनुभव था. इस फिल्म को हिट कराने में इसके म्यूजिक की भी महान भूमिका थी. इस पर कभी विस्तार से बात करेंगे.

'गदर' को 4K में रिलीज किया गया है. इसके हर फ्रेम को रंगा गया है, उनमें सुधार हुआ है. पर कुछ फ्रेम छूट गए हैं या यूं कहें उनमें सुधार नहीं हो सका है. ऐसे फ्रेम काफी धुंधले हैं. इसकी आवाज़ को शायद रीमास्टर किया गया है. क्योंकि सनी देओल जब चिल्लाते हैं, तो उसके साथ एक दहाड़ जोड़ी गयी है. जो मुझे पर्सनली नहीं पसंद आई. क्योंकि सनी देओल का चिल्लाना ही अपने आप में दहाड़ है. चूंकि फिल्म आज से दो दशक पहले बनाई गई थी, इसलिए इसमें कई सारी दिक्कतें हैं. खासकर कुछ शब्द ऐसे इस्तेमाल किए गए हैं, जो शायद आज इस्तेमाल नहीं होते हैं. ऐसे ही कई लोग 'गदर' के डायलॉग्स को महिला विरोधी बता सकते हैं. पर इसे 2001 के सांचे में रखकर ही जज किया जाना चाहिए. इसलिए मैं उन सब चीज़ों को छोड़ रहा हूं. सनी देओल के फैन हैं या नॉस्टैल्जिया ताज़ा करना चाहते हैं या फिर अमरीश पुरी को बड़े पर्दे पर देखने की ख्वाहिश है, तो इससे बढ़िया मौका नहीं मिलेगा. फिल्म अपने नजदीकी सिनेमाघरों में जाकर देख डालिए.

Gadar 2: The Katha Continues is an upcoming 2023 Indian Hindi-language period action drama film directed and produced by Anil Sharma from a story written by Shaktimaan Talwar. It is a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles.

It is scheduled to be released on 11 August 2023 .

During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, Tara Singh returns to Pakistan in order to bring back his son Charanjeet.

Zee Studio, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma officially announced Gadar 2: The Katha Continues on 15 October 2021 (Dussehra) on their social media accounts, revealing the release date 2022 with motion poster. The first poster of the sequel titled ‘Gadar 2’ was unveiled on 26 January 2023 ( Republic Day ) and it shows Tara Singh, played by Sunny, with a hammer.A few days ago there was a news that the teaser of the film will be released along with Salman Khan’s film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and the teaser will be of 55 seconds but it turned out to be just a rumor. The film has also set its release date as August 11, 2023 .

As before, Deol was offered for the role of Tara Singh. Patel was offered the role of Tara Singh’s wife, Sakeena role. Sharma was offered for role of Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh.

Nimrat Khaira was offered the role of Charanjeet Singh’s love interest, Muskaan, in September 2021. Khaira rejected the offer in wake of the 2020–2021 Indian farmers’ protest. She also stated that Zee Studio and Bollywood opposed the farmers’ protest, so she will not work in any film offered by Bollywood. After Khaira turned down the role, Simi Chahal was offered the same role, but she also rejected it due to the protests. During an interview in May 2022, Shipra Goyal said that she was offered the role of Ghadar 2 after Chahal but also declined. Wamiqa Gabbi also rejected the role of Muskaan. Kainaat Arora is said to have flatly refused for the role of Gadar 2. Eventually, the makers brought in Simrat Kaur for the role. Manish Wadhwa was offered the role of a Pakistani army general in the film. Rohit Choudhary, was also cast in the role of a Pakistani army general in the film. Luv Sinha and Gaurav Chopra have also been cast in important role.

The music of the film is composed by Mithoon with lyrics written by Sayeed Quadri.

Gadar 2: The Katha Continues is scheduled to be theatrically released in India on 11th August 2023. Also, Gadar Ek Prem Katha was Re-Released in Cinemas on 9th June 2023. The Gadar 2 Teaser was released on Zee Studio YouTube Channel on 12th June 2023, celebrating the 22nd Anniversary Of Gadar Ek Prem Katha.

Sunny Deol is superb in this middling sequel

Sunny Deol as Tara Singh reprises the hand pump and ‘zindabad’ scenes but there is very little that is original and impactful in the new film

Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) once again takes out his high-decibel gaddi to Pakistan in this faithful sequel to Gadar. It is not as provocative as the original as driver Anil Sharma seeks to take a middle path. Perhaps, it feels like that because the socio-political atmosphere outside the theatre has become much more dramatic and shrill than what it was when the original released in 2001. Still, it is good that Sharma has toned down the jingoistic tone. Set ahead of the Bangladesh War, it talks of moving on from the hate-filled atmosphere of Partition. Instead of a particular religion, he comes down heavily on individuals who use religion as a tool to further their jaundiced political agenda. The problem is Sharma finds such people only across the border. Where is the representation of Ashraf Alis and Hamid Iqbals, the antagonist in the latest version, on this side of the divide?

The bad part is it is not as poignant as the original. For all its politics of hate, Gadar did have a tender love story between Tara and Sakina (Ameesha Patel) at its core and Uttam Singh’s music ensured that it pressed the right buttons.

This time the emotional ignition falls short as Tara returns to the neighbouring nation to get his son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) back. The idea is just to put Tara, the one-man army, back in Pakistan and let him and the audience go berserk. The route is contrived and the bulwark of sentiments is not strong enough to lift the action.

Having said that, few could match Sunny in depicting the intensity of a wounded soul. With honesty in his eyes and a hammer in his hands, he once again pulverises the opposition single-handedly. Wish Sharma had given him situations with more heft and humour to work with. Tara reprises the hand pump and ‘zindabad’ scenes but there is very little that is original and impactful in the sequel. The hand pump scene had a distinct rawness to it but here when Tara lifts the wheel with shlokas playing the background, we know where it is coming from. We know Sunny’s fight sequences have their own intrinsic logic but the climactic scene doesn’t pass even that test. It is simply lazy writing.

Manish Wadhwa impresses as the evil general whose hatred for Hindus and Hindustan emanates from a personal loss during the Partition but we miss the larger-than-life performance of Amrish Puri who matched Sunny in the snarling contest.

Utkarsh has got a lot of screen time to make his presence felt and provide the romantic tapestry to the action but for a large part, he remains just a satellite of Tara. Ameesha is made for melodrama and here again, she plays the teary-eyed wife and mother with conviction. The problem is she hasn’t added much to her creative arsenal since the original hit the screens. The result is as the film progresses, Sakeena becomes a one-note character who begs for empathy rather than earning it.

Anand Bakshi’s lyrics and Uttam Singh’s music were the lifeline of the original. Here Sayeed Quadri and Mithoon haven’t disappointed but still could not match the magic of ‘Udja Kale Kanwa’. ‘Chal Tere Ishq Main’ stands out and provides some padding to Utkarsh and newcomer Simrat Kaur to create a romantic bedrock for the action to take a leap but this prem katha could neither satisfy the bloodthirsty souls nor could it sing to the melody-minded. Tara twinkles somewhere in between.

Ideally, this film should have seen the light of day within a week of its predecessor’s debut in 2001. However, even in that scenario, the fundamental question would persist: “Why?” Anil Sharma reintroduces the iconic character Shaktimaan Talwar, renowned for his contributions to scripting Gadar, along with works like Veer, Singh Saab The Great, Hero: Love Story Of A Spy, and Ghayal Once Again.

Every frame is masterfully wielded to immerse the audience in the illusion of a Gadar sequel. While this approach is not inherently problematic, its overt nature becomes akin to a relentless assault on the senses. The most delicate moments are exploited, such as a pause for Sakeena to catch her breath, reminiscent of her actions in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

The movie’s vitality occasionally derives from Sunny Deol’s resounding roars that resonate through select scenes. As anticipated, Anil Sharma orchestrates a bait-and-switch tactic, presenting Utkarsh Sharma under the guise of Sunny Deol. Regrettably, his talent became entangled in a subpar script, raising questions about his decision to participate in tarnishing the legacy of a classic like Gadar. It’s heartening to witness his prowess as an actor, yet disheartening to contemplate his choice.

Ameesha Patel, who once exuded the enchanting allure befitting Sakeena’s character, now delivers a disappointingly one-dimensional performance at best. Utkarsh Sharma, whose involvement led to the creation of this elaborate setup, disappoints by consistently overacting throughout his portrayal. He undertakes the audacious task of imitating the likes of Rajesh Khanna, Prithviraj Kapoor, and Dilip Kumar—a feat that even seasoned actors would hesitate to undertake. Simrat Kaur’s Muskaan aptly queries Utkarsh with the words “Actor aur aap?” (You, an actor?), a sentiment echoed by many with resounding agreement.

In a collective chorus of “Exactly!”, the audience voices their shared sentiment. Meanwhile, Manish Wadhwa’s portrayal of the villainous Pakistani Army General falls short of aligning with the cinematic standards of 2023. Instead, he embodies the stereotypical persona of a Pakistani army officer prevalent in 1990s Bollywood films—not in sync with the contemporary cinematic landscape.

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are marking the one-year anniversary of their 2023 blockbuster 'Gadar 2' by sharing heartfelt messages of gratitude to their fans.

Sunny Deol reflected on the impact of ‘Gadar 2’ in his life, calling it a “revolution” as he expressed gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support on the film’s one-year anniversary. On Sunday, Sunny, along with his ‘Gadar 2’ co-star Ameesha Patel, took to Instagram to share their joy and pride over the film’s success.

Sunny shared a video from the movie, captioning it, “One year of the revolution in my life Gadar 2. Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 to re-release in theatres for deaf audience

Sunny Deol's blockbuster drama Gadar 2 is set to hit the theatres again, but this time for a special cause. The superhit sequel, which captured the hearts of millions across the nation last year and became one of the highest-grossing Hindi movies of all time, will be released on the big screens on August 4. 

Zee Studios, in association with - India Signing Hands, is thrilled to announce the re-release of the blockbuster film, Gadar 2 , just in time for its first anniversary.

In a pioneering move to make cinema accessible to all, Gadar 2 will be screened with Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpretation for deaf audiences.

Zee Studios is delighted to collaborate on an initiative to screen the film at select PVR cinemas nationwide, providing an immersive cinematic experience for differently-abled audiences. When India Signing Hands (ISH News), a Mumbai-based organisation founded by Mr Alok Kejriwal (Deaf) to provide accessibility solutions for the Deaf, approached Zee Studios, they were more than thrilled to participate!

Set against the backdrop of the third Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, the film follows the heroic journey of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) as he crosses the border to rescue his son, Charanjeet (Utkarsh Sharma) while battling all odds. Commenting on this re-release, Umesh Kr Bansal, CBO, Zee Studios stated, “Gadar 2 is a film that resonates with the core of every Indian. We are delighted to bring it back to the big screen, 1 year later, for a meaningful initiative. Making cinema accessible for all is a priority for us, and we are proud to partner with India Signing Hands to make this happen.”

Sunny Deol, who returns as the iconic Tara Singh, added, “Gadar 2 is a film that has, and always will have, a special place in my heart. So, it’s overwhelming to see the continued love and support from audiences 1 year after its release. This re-release with Indian Sign Language interpretation will allow the film to touch the hearts of even more audiences this time.”

Ameesha Patel, who reprises her role as Sakina, said, “Being a part of the Gadar films has been an incredible journey for me. It feels great to be able to bring the story of Sakina back on the big screen for a special audience that does not get enough opportunities to fully enjoy cinema as the rest of us, and I hope this initiative will inspire other film-makers to make cinema more inclusive and accessible.”
