HIT: The 2nd Case, Streaming On Prime Video, Is A Riveting Procedural That Shares Some Of The Flaws Of The First Installment
Director: Sailesh Kolanu
Cast: Adivi Sesh, Vinni Mobstaz, Rao Ramesh
There is a chance that if you’re politically astute, you may be put off by the first few minutes of HIT: The 2nd Case (HIT 2) . It opens with a woman cheating on her husband and then, falsely accusing him of marital rape. The protagonist is a police officer named KD ( Adivi Sesh ) who claims that most criminals are “bird-brained” and that most crimes can be solved within five minutes. He tells off the media at a crime scene for having the temerity to hold the police to account, dismisses a female officer for being “manipulative”, and while picking up his girlfriend from women’s welfare organisation meeting, he says “you say feminism and all that, but it is we who have to open doors and pay bills”. When he spots a photo of a girl with a dark-skinned man, he makes sure to comment on the man’s color. KD might stand for Krishna Dev, but you know why he’s really called that.
The most interesting thing about the first HIT ( HIT: The 1st Case ) was its tortured-by-the-past protagonist Vikram, played effectively by Vishwak Sen. After the first few minutes of KD in HIT 2 , I assumed that by going bigger for the sequel, the filmmakers decided to introduce some of the old misogyny-as-masala tropes for wider appeal. Without spoiling the events of the film, let me assure you this is not really the case, that it is more subversive than it initially promises to be, and for most of its runtime, happens to be a riveting procedural that stacks tension and atmosphere like few other Telugu thrillers. It is a shame, then, that it shares the same central flaw that HIT had—that it comes apart somewhat at its denouement.
In well-constructed murder mysteries, the denouement always lands as an aha! moment because we realize that the clues have always pointed to the killer, but we have been prevented from arriving at the right conclusion because the story has hidden the connecting thread cleverly. Both HIT and HIT 2 are deeply interested in the forensic details of the crime, in providing an abundance of clues, some of which click together by the end, but they don’t play fair— HIT 2 keeps a crucial piece of information concerning the identity of the killer hidden (something that would have been revealed by a simple background check) only for it to surface as a surprise later. When it does, the face-off between the hero and the villain devolves into farce, which, given how well-crafted the lead up to that point was, seems like a different film.
But right up until that final stretch, HIT 2 is a terrific ride which paces its twists and revelations perfectly, and though I missed the rough edges of the protagonist from the first film, Adivi Sesh is immensely watchable as KD—there is a genuine arc to this character that goes from cocky chauvinist to vulnerable vigilante. Rao Ramesh, playing his superior officer, does the thing that Rao Ramesh usually does in the movies well. John Stewart Eduri’s background score is a standout, as well as the MM Srilekha-composed 'Urike Urike '. The humor in the film also works for the most part— especially a subplot that involves a pregnancy involving Geetha Bhascker as KD’s live-in girlfriend’s mother. There are hints to some of the unresolved questions from the first film, as well as some clever allusions to the caveats of real-life “encounter” killings. There is also a cameo in its final stretch that worked spectacularly on the audience in my theater.
Though I’m not convinced about the cinematic universe gimmick, there is a lot in the HIT films that warrants revisits for a sequel. My concern is that subsequent films will slowly, for commercial appeal, strip away the things that made the first film distinct—the commitment to the neo-noir aesthetic and the attention to detail. This film didn’t need a derogatory joke on someone’s complexion—it exists to massi fy the franchise. What these films need are better mysteries at their core. The cast, the atmosphere, the music, and the pacing of the screenplay are all in place for a solid trip. But if a whodunit is a drug, you need a solid denouement to take a hit.

HIT: The Second Case Review: A racy thriller with smart twists
Rating: ( 3 / 5).
It's been weeks since we saw an engrossing thriller in Telugu cinema - especially the kind that requires you to suspend your disbelief and go for a roller-coaster ride. Pleasingly, director Sailesh Kolanu's HIT: The Second Case , a second film in the HIT -verse, is exactly that kind of film. It's a far-fetched thriller much in the tradition of its first film HIT: The First Case , and yet it's thrilling enough for you to stop looking for the cliches and plot holes and go with the flow instead.
Cast: Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Rao Ramesh, Komalee Prasad Director: Sailesh Kolanu
Starring Adivi Sesh, HIT 2 is a confident, competent, and gripping thriller that sucks you into its drama less than five minutes into the film and keeps you invested till the end credits roll.
Krishna Dev aka KD (Adivi Sesh), a Superintendent of Police in the Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) of Visakhapatnam has a better record in solving crimes than his contemporaries. He perceives that the criminals are birdbrained ( kodi burralu ) and is also well-known in his department for his sharp tongue. He lives with his girlfriend Aarya (Meenakshi Chaudhary) and his exceptionally talented dog Max.
KD and his team encounter a dismembered body of a woman, who was gruesomely killed by a serial killer. KD uses all his skills and expertise to decode the motive behind the chilling murder and makes every possible attempt to unmask the killer.
Sailesh Kolanu skillfully builds a real world around this murder mystery that moves at a racy pace with spurts of tension and thrill. There are some realistic scenes like the one where KD asks his forensic team to conduct a luminol test on a suspect at a crime scene and how he analyses the murder of a woman at a resto-bar.
Like any good thriller, HIT 2 never reveals all its cards at once. The layers come off one by one and each time you think you have got it all figured out, another twist hits you out of the blue. That doesn't mean that you haven't guessed some of the surprises in advance. With enough plot twists to confuse the viewers, the film keeps you on the edge of your seat for the most part. If you have watched enough Korean thrillers, then surely you can predict at least a few of the surprises yourself. After all, a serial killer on the loose and a cop sets out to nab him is a staple ingredient of a murder mystery.
The film's only drawback is an amalgam of disturbing visuals that are meant to shock our senses. The film, in a few places, tends to get repetitive and loose. But for the most part, the narrative moves at a brisk pace, never really deviating from its thriller format.
The impact of a film of this nature depends largely on the performance and credibility its protagonist lends to the character. In Adivi Sesh, Sailesh Kolanu has found the perfect man for the task. Uninhibited, spontaneous, and blessed with an unmistakable presence, Sesh holds the screen like a fireball. He used his face to convey the emotions -- from confusion, to fear, to anger, to shock -- and he, undoubtedly, emerges as the biggest asset of this thriller. Meenakshi Chaudhary is charming but doesn't get much scope to showcase her acting chops. The same is the case with Rao Ramesh, who played an underdeveloped character. Komalee Prasad as Varsha got a meaty role and her character remains almost parallel to the plot. Maganti Srinath, who played a crucial role in HIT 1 , leaves an impression in this film as well.
The film also has a moral core that will definitely resonate with its viewers. HIT 2 is not a great film, but it delivers what it promises to deliver. The film was slickly photographed and has some exciting visuals, but it's got a boring romantic track that only adds to the film's length.
The film ends on an exciting note by introducing us to its new protagonist and also gives us a hint of what to expect from the third film in the HIT -verse titled HIT: The Third Case .

HIT The Second Case Review
What's Behind HIT 2
Adivi Sesh's crime thriller HIT-The Second Case, the sequel to HIT-The First Case is releasing on December 2. The HIT franchise turned bigger with the association of Nani and director Sailesh Kolanu turning the franchise into HIT Universe. The teasers and trailers increased the curiosity levels and triggered speculation as to who could be the killer. The film's digital streaming rights have been bagged for a fancy sum by Amazon Prime Video. The OTT streaming will be done once HIT: The Second Case finishes the theatrical run. Let us find out whether HIT-The Second Case lived up to the expectations with the spine-chilling elements.
HIT: The Second Case Story Review
HIT: The Second Case story is all about a psychopath on a killing spree and how a diligent cop tries to nab him when the entire police force is on the run with question marks raised over their efficiency. SP KD aka Krishna Dev (Adivi Sesh) in Visakhapatnam prides himself as the cop who can solve all murder mysteries. But he faces a tough challenge when Vizag is rocked with a mysterious and brutal murder of Sanjana. On Investigation, he finds shocking revelations. Where this leads to how his girlfriend Aarya (Meenakshi Chaudhary), subordinates Varsha (Komalee Prasad), Abilash (Maganti Srinath), DGP Nageswara Rao (Rao Ramesh), journalist (Posani Krishna Murali), Homicide Intervention Team Hyderabad boss (Srikanth Iyengar), Ram Prasad (Harshavardhan) are connected to it, should be unraveled on the screen. Director successfully ensured that HIT2 villain's identity is not revealed till the end.
HIT 2 Artists, Technicians Review
HIT: The Second Case story penned by Sailesh Kolanu is the continuation of his murder mystery HIT-The First Case. He continued from where he left off and showed that he meant business. The story starts in a slow manner establishing a few interesting developments before Adivi Sesh is introduced and then his character has been highlighted. Once the brutal murder is shown, the pace picks up the pace and from then on, the narration goes on at a supersonic pace.
Sailesh Kolanu carried the second half in a similar way with twists and turns in the runup to the climax. He tried to erase the loopholes that many complained about in HIT-The First case and most of the time, he emerged successful. The climax has shock elements but those who watch crime thrillers will find it nothing new. Overall, Sailesh Kolanu emerged successful in satisfying the lovers of crime thrillers largely by showing Vishwak Sen from HIT-The First Case in between and also ending HIT-The Second Case, showing Nani as the officer who takes charge of HIT-The Third Case. Director by revealing that Nani will be the protagonist in HIT 3, managed to create more hype on the HIT Universe.. The way Nani is introduced evoked huge applause from the viewers.
Sailesh Kolanu turned his screenplay racy and he followed the well-known directorial format popular for thriller and murder mystery genres. There is no dip in the narration and he unraveled each and every twist in a meticulous way. The interval bang is good and made an impact.
Adivi Sesh played the role effortlessly. He showed the right kind of feelings when he went wrong and at the same time while investigating the case quite confidently. He also showed apt body language as the caring and honest cop trying to find the real culprit and at the same time save the innocent from getting punished. Adivi Sesh looked suave and stylish. But during the climax and in a few scenes, he failed to elevate the scenes to another level. He should have shown more menacing and ruthless looks like Vishwak Sen when it mattered.
Meenakshi Chaudhary got limited scope to perform. She did it well and oozed with glamor in sarees and a couple of songs. Meenakshi got just another role in her career and she should wait for her turn to show her talent. Rao Ramesh played the role of a serious boss who means business even if it is wrong. He is apt for his role. Komalee Prasad is good as Adivi Sesh's assistant. Others like Posani Krishna Murali and Tanikella Bharani performed according to their roles. Vishwak Sen's scene from HIT 1, included by the makers wowed the viewers. It drew good applause from movie lovers as Vishwak Sen made a traffic impact. The way Natural Star Nani led the way to the HIT-The Third Case as officer Arjun is good.
John Stewart Eduri made a stunning impact with his background music. His background score thumped the heartbeat of the viewers and took the viewers into the story keeping them glued to the screens. The cinematography of S.Manikandan is realistic and gave a natural feel to the narration. Editing of BH. Garry is good and he ensured that the pace of the film isn't impacted in any manner.
HIT 2 Movie Advantages

- Cinematography
HIT 2 Movie Disadvantages
- Missing Suspense
- Predictability
HIT: The Second Case Rating Analysis
Altogether, HIT: The Second Case is succeded in reaching the expectations of the audience. HIT 2 is an Thilling showcase directed by Sailesh Kolanu generated immense interest as it happens to be the sequel to HIT-The First Case. With Adivi Sesh being the protagonist and Nani entering the project, the scope increased and so too did the expectations. Sailesh Kolanu's HIT-The Second Case story has all the suspense elements that a crime thriller should have and the investigation is shown in an interesting way. But for all the hard work and dedication and the optimum output from the film unit, Sailesh Kolanu, Adivi Sesh and Nani failed to stun the movie lovers with the revelations in the end. Had they undid the few predictable elements and routine way of the investigation process and fine-tuned the script showing out-of-the-box elements giving a wow feel, HIT-The Second Case would have taken off to new heights. Altogether HIT-The Second Case is an interesting crime thriller. Taking into consideration all these points, Cinejosh goes with a 3 rating for HIT-The Second Case .

Post Major, Adivi Sesh has become a popular star and is doing some different films. Next in line is HIT 2 which has been released today. Let’s see how it is.
The city of Vizag is stunned with the brutal murder of a young woman. In comes SP Krishna Dev(Adivi Sesh) to solve the case. He investigates the case and even nabs the man behind it. But in a tragic turnaround of events, Dev comes to know that the killer is someone else. Who is this killer? and why is he targeting only women? To know the answers, you need to watch the film on the big screen.
Plus Points:
Sailesh Kolanu has directed this second part in the HIT franchise and he has narrated it in a gripping manner. If HIT featuring Vishwak Sen was investigative, this part has more emotions, drama, and good thrills.
Meenakshi Chaudhary looks beautiful in her role and ably supports Sesh. Her subtle emotions and screen presence were quite good. The lead pair’s chemistry is solid. Komalee Prasad gets a good role and surprises us in a serious role. Rao Ramesh was decent as a cop.
The second half of the film is where all the action happens. The thrills, conflict points and the manner in which the killer is revealed is quite good. The film is stylish and director Sailesh narrated in such a way that there is no dull moment in both the halves.
Last but not the least, Adivi Sesh has now become the king of thrillers and cannot put a foot wrong. The way he selects subjects in this genre is superb and HIT 2 gives him ample scope to showcase his heroism and performance. Be it his looks, body language and emotional outburst in the climax, Sesh has killed it.
Minus Points:
HIT 2 is a typical serial killer film and has nothing new to showcase. It has simple and engaging investigation but the wow factor which you expect with Sesh films is missing.
The film starts on a slow note and it takes time to enter the main plot. The villain’s track is revealed superbly but the actor who portrayed it could have done an even better job to make the climax exciting. His facial expressions were not up to the mark as the roles had so much scope to enact.
Technical Aspects:
The production values are top notch as the city of Vizag is showcased in a new light. The color tone used by the cameraman is amazing and shows the film in an arresting manner. Dialogues are decent and the production design was amazing. Lyrics were decent but the BGM could have been more gripping. It lacks depth in key places.
Coming to the director Sailesh Kolanu, he has done an impressive job. When compared to the first part, HIT 2 has more meat and style. Though he did not showcase things out of the box, he stuck to the serial killer genre and narrated the film in an engaging note. The lead up to reveal the villain is good but the interaction between the hero and villain should have been more intense. The climax part looks a bit rushed.
On the whole, HIT 2 is a gripping crime drama with good thrills and a solid second half. Adivi Sesh is in full form and carries the film on his shoulders with his superb performance. Though the film starts on a slow note, once the momentum picks up it keeps you hooked and ends as a satisfying watch. Go for it.

HIT : The second Case Movie Review
HIT THE Second Case Movie Review
Telugu360 Rating 2.75/5
KD alias Krishna Dev (Adivi Sesh) works as a SP in Homicide Investigation Team in Vizag. He stays in a relationship with Arya (Meenakshi Chaudhary). KD is quite sharp and he can grasp the culprits in minutes. He is so capable that he finds the accused in a case with just a phone call. “I don’t need much time to trace the criminal” says KD during his media interaction. A girl named Sanjana gets murdered brutally and KD gets the assignment to solve the murder mystery. The forensic report says the found body parts belong to four women. The rest of HIT 2 is all about how KD handles this case and how he traces the real culprit in the series of crimes.
HIT 2 is a psycho killer story. KD’s characterization is well designed and elevated. The director gets into the real story without wasting much time. The murder of Sanjana is so brutally done and presented that the audience would turn curious to wait about who the real culprit is. But as time passes, KD’s intelligence will not match as per the expectation. The investigative narration happens at a slow pace. The narration in investigative thrillers should be racy and so gripping. But KD investigates the case at a slow pace and there are no great thrilling elements. The first half of HIT 2 is just focused on Raghavudu and he gets arrested by KD. The psycho himself reveals that Raghavudu is innocent. The first half of HIT 2 is decent.
The second half of HIT 2 too is focused on the investigation drama. The real culprit in the case is kept under wraps till the climax. The references of the first installment of HIT are used in HIT 2 and this excites the audience. There are several loose ends in this investigative thriller. The forensic reports about the tooth, KD’s questioning of Sanjana’s friends and Veeraraghavudu episode have many flaws. As per the template, the identity of the psycho is revealed during the climax portions. The body language of the psycho looked apt and the climax episodes remind us of films like Rakshasudu.
HIT 2 follows the template of a proper thriller film. There are not many deviations in the script and the narration. There are no songs and the screenplay looks racy for the most of the time. The colour and the lighting of the film matches the mood and the genre. The background score of the film is apt.
Performances:
Adivi Sesh is in terrific form. All his recent films are money spinners. He did the role of KD with ease. There is a lot of style and punch words in his role. He impresses the audience with his body language. Meenakshi Chaudhary looks beautiful in the role. Rao Ramesh, Thanikella Bharani and Srikanth Iyyengar did their best for their roles.
The production values of Wallposter Cinema are good. The visuals are created inline with the mood of the film. The cinematography work is one of the major highlights of HIT 2. Editor Garry makes the film even gripping with his work. The only song is decent on screen. Sailesh Kolanu penned an interesting crime thriller and he should have worked more on making the film more engaging and gripping.
HIT 2 would make a decent watch if you go without expectations.Adivi Sesh brand is the saving grace. Production standards are good, audience do experience a slick film.

Hit2 review: A taut police procedural that is more gripping than its predecessor
With Hit 2 director Sailesh Kolanu successfully creates a universe much like Rohit Shetty’s Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi. A star cameo perfectly sets the stage for Hit3.

Not much was expected when Hit (The First Case) hit the theatres. However, the film surprised many thanks to its arresting screenplay. Vishwak Sen was also applauded for his performance as the officer battling with post traumatic stress.
There were certain issues with the storytelling. The climax was a downer and some of the investigation scenes lacked cohesiveness, but still the film was appreciated for its novelty.
The sequel has Adavi Sesh taking over the reins from Vishwak Sen, but the characterisations of both the heroes are as different as chalk and cheese. Expectations from the sequel are far more thanks to the well-received trailer and its leading man.
The setting of Hit (The Second Case) is Visakhapatnam. Before we are introduced to SP Krishna Dev (Adavi Sesh) there is an important incident that sets the tone of the story.
It is about a man who accidently stumbles upon his wife’s extramarital affair. Expectedly he gets angry and orders her to go away.
The wife goes to a women’s organization and paints a picture of her husband mentally harassing her. This leads to the husband’s humiliation and subsequently he loses his job as well. Later on we also find out that he had committed suicide.
Enter Adavi Sesh
After this prologue the scene shifts to the introduction of Adavi Sesh. Unlike the brooding Vishwak Sen’s Vikram Rudraraju, Adavi Sesh’s KD is more relaxed in the way he conducts his investigations. KD is also a chai addict. For him visiting a crime scene can wait, but not chai.
The cast and crew of ‘HIT: The Second Case’ celebrating the film’s success. (walpostercinema/Twitter)
KD has a live-in relationship with his girlfriend Aarya (Meenakshi Chaudhary). Rao Ramesh plays KD’s superior. KD is someone who is also known for his wit and sarcasm and this adds a different dimension to the character. Maganti Srinath reprises her role from the first part.
A tonal shift in the film happens when a woman is found dead in a gruesome manner. This brings to the fore questions of women’s safety. From here on the film moves to into the zone of an SP versus a psychopath. Two more gruesome murders follow, and the pressure mounts on the police to catch this serial killer.
What is common between the murders is that all three women were part of a women’s organization. At one point it appears that everything has been solved, but soon a big twist comes. And this twist jolts the audiences.
The rest of the story is about why the serial killer is specifically targeting this section. And, most importantly, whether KD is able to put a stop to all this.

The many pluses of Hit2
Hit2 is a film which works on many counts, starting from the technical team. John Stewart Eduri’s background score has the required tension. The effectiveness of his background score can be particularly felt when KD has to race against time.
Adivi Sesh in ‘HIT: The Second Case’. (AdiviSesh/Twitter)
Cinematographer Manikandan is effective in showcasing Vizag in a different light. The production design also deserves a special mention.
Meenakshi Chaudary in Hit2 has more to do than Ruhani Sharma in Hit1 , and the actress does a good job. Both Adavi Sesh and Meenakshi have a good chemistry. Director Sailesh Kolanu treats their live-in relationship in a matter of fact way without making it a big thing.
KD’s scenes with Aarya’s mother (Geetha Bhascker) bring a certain fun element in an otherwise tense ridden film. The audiences miss seeing more of Geeta Bhascker.
The film also briefly touches upon extra-judicial killings and police encounters being celebrated. It is just a brief subplot but nevertheless Sailesh Kolanu makes some valid points.

Creating the back-story
The major area where Hit2 scores over its first part is in the motivation of the killer. The back-story of the villain and why he does what he does has been brought out superbly. Moreover, the actor playing the villain is somebody that the audiences would never have thought of.
Portions of the climax aren’t easy to digest, but as an audience you nevertheless come out satisfied.
Hit2 majorly rests on the shoulders of Adavi Sesh and the actor doesn’t disappoint. KD is a character with various shades and he plays it with a finesse that we have come to associate with him. He has been part of thrillers previously too but Hit2 showcases the actor in a different light.
Of the rest, Suhas and Maganti Srinath hold their own. Some of the senior actors haven’t been properly used by the director. And these include Rao Ramesh and Tanikella Bharani.
Another minor complaint: The scenes of Adavi Sesh with Posani Krishna Murali — they don’t add much weight to the film.
The music by MM Srilekha and Suresh Bobbili is functional. However, there is one romantic song which is both good to watch and hear.
Hit (The Second Case) leaves you excited for the third part, and also a possible crossover between the three heroes in the future.

‘HIT 2’ movie review: Adivi Sesh scores in a taut cop drama that paves the way for a ‘HIT Universe’
With an impressive adivi sesh at the fore, director sailesh kolanu delivers an engrossing cop drama with ‘hit: the second case’ and sets the stage for ‘hit 3’.

Meenakshi Chaudhary and Adivi Sesh in director Sailesh Kolanu’s cop drama ‘HIT 2’
In the pre-intermission segment of the Telugu film HIT: The Second Case or HIT 2 , we see Krishna Dev aka KD (Adivi Sesh), a slightly laidback cop, being challenged like never before. With limited powers at his disposal, he has to think one step ahead to change the course of events. Pushed to the edge and wanting to stay on the right side of the moral compass, he does something that elicits whistles in the cinema hall. The ‘HIT Universe’ or ‘HIT-verse’, which writer and director Sailesh Kolanu is creating, has smart-thinking cop protagonists who do not rely on brawn power. Telugu cinema could do with more of these narratives.
The second film in the HIT (Homicide Intervention Team) franchise is a study in contrast with the first one. The setting moves to Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad and in place of the brooding cop Vikram Rudraraju (Vishwak Sen) grappling with post traumatic stress while trying to solve a tough case, is the cool KD who has a smart alec manner of speaking and is a chai addict. Visiting a crime scene can wait for a few minutes, first chai!
Manikandan’s camera captures the airy expanse of Vizag in wide frames and the unhurried pace of the city in the opening portions.
HIT 2 (HIT: The Second Case)
Cast: adivi sesh, meenakshi chaudhary, komalee prasad, direction: sailesh kolanu, music: m m sree lekha, suresh bobbili and john stewart eduri.
HIT 2 has a tightly woven, two-hour narrative that presents a chapter in the life of police officer KD. The different aspects of his life unravel smoothly. KD’s romance with Aarya (Meenakshi Chaudhary) deals with live-in relationships matter-of-factly and the couple’s exchange of words with Aarya’s mother (played by Geetha Bhascker) has some fun moments. At work, KD uses his sarcasm to counter his superior (Rao Ramesh), and the equation he shares with his small team has room for both trust and friction.
Abhilash (Maganti Srinath), who we saw in HIT 1 , makes his presence felt here as well. HIT 2 works well as a standalone film but for those who have seen the first one, Sailesh places a few Easter eggs to link the HIT Universe and spotting them amplifies the entertainment quotient.
A tonal shift happens when Vizag is jolted by a gruesome murder that brings to the fore questions of women’s safety. The story has several tropes associated with the genre — a psychopath killer on the loose, his motive that stems from a twisted understanding of women, and the plight of hapless victims and their families. KD, his trusted dog Max, and his team which includes forensic officer Varsha (Komalee Prasad) discover that the crime is murkier than they had imagined. It is appreciable that the film does not get voyeuristic as it depicts the gruesome incidents.
The story makes an emphatic statement about police encounters turning into a tool of public appeasement. The mood gets grim by the minute and KD trades his laidback nature with an urgency to make the city safer. The brick-walled spacious villa inhabited by KD, which once served as a romantic setting, turns eerie. John Stewart Eduri’s background score fills these frames with a sense of dread.
Newer characters are introduced during the investigation and it is easy to connect the threads and guess the killer and his motives. This aspect of the story could have been smarter. The film does not lose steam, but the hallmark of a crackling thriller would be to keep the audiences on the edge of their seat and spring a surprise by connecting clues that are hiding in plain sight for that wow moment.
HIT 1 , whose protagonist used his Sherlock-ian knowledge and observation to crack cases, was more cerebral in its investigation. The final reveal happened through a new subplot that the audience would have had no way of guessing. HIT 2 does a better job of weaving in the sub plot of the killer’s motives but still, could have been sharper.
However, the way the climax portion taps KD’s sharp tongue, even if it isn’t politically correct, keeps us invested. The final portions also tap into the emotional side of Adivi Sesh as an actor and he is impressive. His characterisation gives him the scope to be suave, sometimes nasty and at times romantic and he digs in with delight, owning both his character and the film. Meenakshi Chaudhary has a good screen presence and her character is thankfully not a prop. In the brief part assigned to her, Komalee Prasad makes an impression.
HIT 2 ends on a high note, offering a glimpse of the star actor who will take centre stage in HIT 3 as a ruthless cop. The HIT Universe holds immense promise and it will be interesting to see what Sailesh Kolanu has in store. Earlier this year, Tamil cinema raised the bar with LCU (or Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe) through the Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram in which Lokesh linked his earlier film Kaithi and set the stage for a larger universe. Similarly, HIT-verse can be an interesting addition to Telugu cinema and calls for smart, sharp writing.
HIT 2 is currently running in theatres

HIT: Sailesh Kolanu wrote and directed the slasher crime thriller The Second Case in the Indian language of Telugu. After HIT: The First Case (2020), it is the second part of the HITverse. Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Rao Ramesh are the movie’s stars. The story revolves around Krishna Dev (Sesh) attempting to solve a Visakhapatnam serial murder case.
HIT: The Second Case, which debuted on December 2, 2022, garnered favorable reviews from critics and enjoyed box office success. Red Chillies Entertainment and Dil Raju Productions are making a Hindi version.
Ram Prasad Koduri is crushed when he learns of his wife Jhansi’s extramarital relationship. Ram Prasad is detained on fictitious charges of marital rape by Jhansi out of fear that he will reveal her. Even when he goes back home, he is shunned by society. He constructs a tree house because he is a carpenter and then kills himself.
Krishna Dev, often known as KD, is a Special Police Officer (SP) with the Homicidal Intervention Team (HIT) of Andhra Pradesh in Vishakapatnam. He is renowned for his mental clarity and dexterity in apprehending criminals. He is living with Aarya, a businesswoman and active participant in a group dedicated to the welfare of women.
Sanjana, a bar employee, is brutally killed and dismembered at her job after everyone has left. Assigned to the investigation, KD finds from the forensics division that only the head of the body parts they believed to be those of Sanjana’s at the crime scene is actually hers; the remaining body parts belong to three other women. The killer’s extra tooth on his incisors is revealed through a bite mark on Sanjana’s neck.
KD encounters Rajitha, who tells them about a bar Sanjana attended, along with his buddies Abhilash and Varsha. KD and his team question the employees ineffectively.
Once KD arrives to the clinic, Rajeev, who is actually Rajitha’s boyfriend Kumar, catches him and threatens to kill Aarya. When KD regarded the culprits as being stupid in one of his earlier cases, Kumar became irritated and determined to fight KD. However, Kumar had taken it personally when KD forced him burn the tree home his father had built. He then produces a chainsaw, which is later seen to be the identical one he had previously used to torture and murder his victims. Having come dangerously near to killing KD, KD then makes a sarcastic joke and asks if Kumar is really Ram Prasad’s biological son in an effort to get Kumar to open the clinic door.
KD whistles to his cat, Max, when Kumar eventually opens the door and leaves it open out of denial. While KD releases his tie and defeats Kumar with Varsha’s help, fatally injuring him, Max strikes and mauls him. The threat that Kumar would kill Rajitha if she didn’t cooperate is subsequently made public. Varsha then discloses that she used a GPS tracker she had hidden in KD’s car to locate the dental clinic. After a few days, KD files for a transfer to the Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) in Telangana after rejecting Nageshwara Rao’s offer to rejoin the HIT in Visakhapatnam. Then he weds Aarya. KD’s replacement, Arjun Sarkaar, shows there to congratulate the newlyweds.

'HIT: The Second Case' movie review: A racy thriller with smart twists
It’s been weeks since we saw an engrossing thriller in Telugu cinema—especially the kind that requires you to suspend your disbelief and go for a roller-coaster ride. Pleasingly, director Sailesh Kolanu’s HIT: The Second Case , a second film in the HIT-verse, is exactly that kind of film. It’s a far-fetched thriller much in the tradition of its first film HIT: The First Case , and yet it’s thrilling enough for you to stop looking for the cliches and plot holes and go with the flow instead.
He perceives that the criminals are birdbrained (kodi burralu) and is also well-known in his department for his sharp tongue.
That doesn’t mean that you haven’t guessed some of the surprises in advance.
The film’s only drawback is an amalgam of disturbing visuals that are meant to shock our senses.
He used his face to convey the emotions—from confusion, to fear, to anger, to shock —and he, undoubtedly, emerges as the biggest asset of this thriller. Meenakshi Chaudhary is charming but doesn’t get much scope to showcase her acting chops.
The film was slickly photographed and has some exciting visuals, but it’s got a boring romantic track that only adds to the film’s length. The film ends on an exciting note by introducing us to its new protagonist and also gives us a hint of what to expect from the third film in the HIT-verse titled HIT: The Third Case .

Go for it.

Overall, Hit 2 is a typical investigative thriller following all the genre troupes. It fails to break any cliches and consistently remains at a decent level throughout. If you like the genre, try it, but have the high expectations in check.

The first half proceedings take their own sweet time to establish. If care was taken by him at the scripting stage itself, the result would have been unanimous. To summarize, HIT 2 is a crime thriller that has a straight to the point narrative. Even though the film has a few loopholes, in an overview, it will end up as a easy one-time watch.
