International buddhist studies college (ibsc) , ibsc is a world class buddhist research and education facility, at mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya  university (mcu) thailand., center , guidelines for writing thesis&dissertation, general requirements for master's and doctoral theses.

The following are general requirements for Graduate School theses and Dissertations. International Buddhist Studies College (IBSC) is encouraged to provide additional written guidance to students outlining expectations of the particular discipline.

Once a thesis/Dissertation is submitted it exists in the public domain unless the candidate and the thesis supervisor request to temporarily withhold a thesis from circulation. Graduate students have the right to use the data they have generated for their thesis. In the event of a of a conflict, the student and thesis supervisor can make a request to Graduate School to temporarily withhold the thesis from circulation (up to one year). A thesis must be written in English. International Buddhist Studies College (IBSC), Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University requires that all theses conform to the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University specifications for Master’s theses and Doctoral Dissertations.

Master’s Theses

A thesis for the Master's degree must show familiarity with previous work in the field and must demonstrate the ability to carry out research, organize results, and defend the approach and conclusions in a scholarly manner according to disciplinary norms.

An exhaustive review of work in the particular field of study is not necessarily required. Expectation for the level of original scholarship at the Master’s level varies with the discipline.

The thesis must be written in compliance with norms for academic and scholarly expression and for publication in the public domain (see section: withholding a thesis from circulation temporarily).

Doctoral Dissertation

A Dissertation for the Doctoral degree must constitute original scholarship and must be a distinct contribution to knowledge.

It must show familiarity with previous work in the field and must demonstrate ability to plan and carry out research, organize results, and defend the approach and conclusions in a scholarly manner.

The research presented must meet current standards of the discipline; as well, the thesis must clearly demonstrate how the research advances knowledge in the field.

Finally, the thesis must be written in compliance with norms for academic and scholarly expression and for publication in the public domain (see section: withholding a thesis from circulation temporarily).

The nature of academic research requires adherence to Graduate School’s policies on research ethics and intellectual property, as described below.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, animal subjects, micro-organisms, living cells, other bio hazards, and/or radioactive materials must have had the appropriate compliance certification. Copies of any certificates of compliance must be retained by the supervisor and student in accordance with Graduate School’s policies on research ethics. Supervisors indicate on the Nomination of Examiners and Thesis Submission Form that the thesis research has complied with all ethical standards. See the Ethics and Compliance web page for further information about certification and training requirements.

Intellectual Property

Any issues regarding intellectual property deriving from the research, leading up to the thesis, or in the completed thesis itself should conform to Graduate School’s Policy on Inventions and Software. In addition:

Students, supervisors, and any other collaborators must have written intellectual property agreements regarding thesis research.

These agreements must be consistent with the requirements of thesis examination and availability in the public domain.

Students must be aware of any limitations or approvals required for publication of the research, including the examination and publication of a thesis.

Please Note: When previously published copyrighted material is presented in a thesis/Dissertation, the student must obtain signed permissions/waivers from the publisher(s). Permission must also be obtained from co-authors of manuscripts submitted or in preparation for inclusion in the thesis; an email to that effect should suffice.

Reading  Service

Circulation service, reference service, information retrieval service, discussion rooms, photocopy in the library, book return box, multi media resources.

There are wide variety of Multi Media Resources available for use on the second floor in Taoyuan library and the third floor in Taipei library. A mini theater in Taoyuan library is available for small groups of 6-10 people.

Moreover, the Audio-visual Room in Taipei library is available for groups up to 20 people. The maximum time for using the theater and audio-visual room is 2 hours. No semester-long or standing weekly reservations can be made.

Recommendations for New Library Materials

Users can recommend library materials in any of three ways:

Online Recommendation at the Purchase Request   .This is a web-based system and users can fill in information like title, author, publisher, and publishing year to recommend new materials.

The Ming Chuan Library is a member of the “InterLibrary Cooperation Association” If desired material is not available in the MCU Library, borrowers may go to the URL  http://ndds.stpi.gov.tw  to apply for a user account. Through this account, the user may apply for copies for use and books for loan. Users can keep track to assure whether materials they desired have arrived or not through e-mail.

Ming Chuan is also a member of a 5-library cooperation in the Shihlin area, called Pa Chih Lieh Cooperation library, using a special id to borrow materials from Chinese Culture, Soo Chow, Yang Ming or Shih Chien University Libraries. Apply for the special id at the library service desk.

From June 2001, the MCU and National Taiwan University Libraries have a special arrangement, with 20 inter-library materials borrower passes available at each university. Apply for a borrower pass at the library service desk.

บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

              Objectives of the study comprise : 1 ) to study an improvement on presentation skills of M . A . students in International Program in English at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University; 2 ) to study the methods of an improvement on presentation skills of M . A . students in International Program in English at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University; and 3 ) to analyze ways for improving presentation skills of M . A . students in International Program in English at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University . The study is a mixed quantitative research and qualitative research in nature . A questionnaire is used for collecting data from 63 M . A . students studying the International Program in English, Faculty of Humanities, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in the academic year 2015 from and group discussion is done with 10 students . Statistics for analyzing data includes Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation ( S . D ) and a content analysis is used for analysis for analyzing qualitative data .  

               Results of the study are as follows :

             1 . From a study of an improvement in presentation skills of M . A . students in International Program in English at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University it found that the respondents could not use well Phrasal - Verbs and the power of idioms the mean of which was 3 . 11 , the runner - un of the respondents was not able to talk a short Story - telling during presentation with 3 . 06 of mean, the third result was a loss of confidence before presentation with 3 . 00, the fourth order of result was making mistake when giving presentation in English with 2 . 93 of mean, the number ive of result was a lack of vocabulary with the mean level of 2 . 90, the number six of result was the problem of feeling with the mean of 2 . 71, the seventh result was bad pronunciations that were difficult to understand clearly with the mean level of 2 . 65 , the number eighth result was that the presenter could not pay a respect and follow other cultures with the mean level of 2 . 58, and the last and least result was a lack of Nonverbal language with the mean of 2 . 58 . In this table, therefore, the respondents mention that they could not use well phrasal verbs as the biggest problem while giving English presentation .

             2 . In respect of a study of the methods of an improvement on presentation skills of M . A . students in International Program in English at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University it found that methods of solution for improving presentation comprised 1 ) acts as an actor when giving presentation was the highest mean of 3 . 74, 2 ) Speaking daily English with foreigners had the mean of 1 . 95, and 3 ) act as an actor when giving presentation .  

             3 . Regarding ways for improving presentation skills of M . A . students in International Program in English at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University it found that ways for improving presentation comprised 1 ) students should attend   any seminars as an activity with the overall mean of 3 . 55, and 2 ) students should practice more English speaking with the overall mean of 1 . 69 .

Working on a Marketing Thesis based on the MCU... looking for tips and suggestions

Basically, my thesis is looking at the creative components and effectiveness of transmedia marketing strategies (i.e., shared universes across mediums, interconnected campaigns) and using Marvel CU as a case study example. Areas of focus will include the creative strategy involved in planning out the MCU / a transmedia property (such as talent, business practices, financing, worldbuilding), the marketing benefits of each medium and the type of content each medium receives (such as why things like Agent Carter work well for TV, the importance of choosing the Netflix series), how the strategy basically allows the content to market itself (through tie-ins with one another, post credits scenes, cameos), and how and why this kind of shared universe approach is a superior model to the typical media or movie franchise (specifically, framing a part of the study around the fall of Spider-Man and his eventual integration into the MCU- what prompted Sony to submit to the larger, more efficient machine? Grand Menshikov Palace

Menshikov began to build his residence here in 1713, at about the same time as Peter began work on his own estate at Peterhof. Menshikov seemed intent on outdoing his master in terms of scale and grandeur, and commissioned architects Giovanni Mario Fontana and Gottfried Schadel, who were already building the Menshikov Palace in St. Petersburg, to design his seaside palace. After over a decade of work, which eventually bankrupted Menshikov, the palace was completed.

Facing the sea, with a two-level terrace in front of it, this charming yellow and white building consists of a concave central block with two single-storey galleries leading to prominent octagonal pavilions, one of which houses the palace chapel. On the south side of the building, two large ancillary wings, the Kitchen Wing and the Ladies' Wing, run from the pavilions perpendicular to the central block.

Menshikov had little time to enjoy his new palace before he was arrested and exiled in 1727. The estate at Oranienbaum was passed to the state, and Menshikov's palace became a naval hospital. In 1743, the estate was presented by Empress Elizabeth to her nephew, the future Peter III, who commissioned Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the greatest late baroque architect working in Russia, to renovate the palace. Rastrelli left the exterior of the palace almost untouched, but created sumptuous interiors that have, sadly, long since been destroyed. At this time, the western pavilion became known as the Japanese Pavilion, thanks to the collection of Japanese and Chinese ceramics it housed.

The palace was altered again in 1762 by Antonio Rinaldi, who added a granite staircase and semi-circular balcony to the northern terraces and redecorated many of the interiors. After serving as a Naval Cadet College from the end of the 18 th century, the palace was used as a residence by both Alexander I and his brother Mikhail. During the 19 th century, several famous architects, including Luigi Ruska, Carlo Rossi, and Vasiliy Satsov, reworked the interiors of the palace.

Today, while the Grand Menshikov Palace is still extremely impressive from the outside, its interiors are in a parlous state, and major renovation work still needs to be done to prevent parts of the building collapsing. For visitors, there is little to see except a collection of portraits of the various owners of Oranienbaum.
